(Y/N)(L/N) woke to an ear-piercing scream. She sighed and rolled onto her back, staring at the ceiling. It was beautiful, painted to look like the sky by her mother, Elena. As another scream sounded, (Y/N) slid off of her bed and threw an empty box at the boy making such a racket. She was too used to such sounds, and it made her quite sad to know that she'd probably hear this for the rest of her life.

(Y/N) dragged herself to the wardrobe and slipped into some baggy jeans and an ACDC t-shirt, and descended the stairs to get breakfast. Karl, (Y/N)'s step-father, was waiting in the kitchen for (Y/N) and her brother before cooking. He sighed and turned to (Y/N).

"(Y/N)? Would you mind going to the shops for me? We don't have any bread."

(Y/N) sighed and slipped on her shoes. "Fine, but only if you give me some money to go get a drink too." At Karl's disapproving face, she added, "Life is all about compromise; denying me this could be the equivalent of me giving up in later life, thinking that I wouldn't be able to do it. All because you didn't lend me money..."

Karl made a face. "I don't have a choice now, do I?"

"Well...do you want me to fail miserably in life, thinking that I don't have the potential to do anything?"

Karl sighed and handed over an extra £10. "Get soft white bread then."

(Y/N) smirked and flounced out of the door. As she left, Karl shouted after her. "And don't be too long!"

(Y/N) decided to go to get a drink first. She was going to go to Costa, but she remembered that her friends had invited her there, and she'd said that she was busy shopping. It'd look too dodgy to turn up, and she didn't want to risk it. Instead, she went into Starbucks.

She ordered a coffee to go and began to walk home when she saw something. It was a boy, about her age. (Y/N) had never had a crush on a boy, but this was different. He was drop-dead gorgeous. Sandy blonde hair blew in the slight breeze, uncovering a pair of beautiful, golden eyes. Muscles bulged from his blue t-shirt, which clung to his sides. (Y/N) had never seen anything like him, and she got the impression that she probably never would.

At some point during the time that (Y/N) had been admiring the boy, he had seen her. For some reason, his eyes - his beautiful, golden eyes, glistening in the sunlight - were widened in shock. Almost as if he wasn't used to people gawping at him.

As if by magic, the boy started moving towards her. The crowd seemed to part in front of him, yet they didn't notice him at all. Or perhaps she was part of some big con, like in The Truman Show. He reached her and spoke. His voice was like silk, delicately weaving itself into her head. She listened intently to what he said, even though it wasn't necessarily important.

"Hey there, pretty!" (Y/N) looked down, wondering why on earth the hottest guy ever was calling her, of all people, pretty.

"M...me?" Damnit (Y/N)! The one time in your entire life that you actually like someone, and you make a fool of yourself! Why can't you say something witty or cool? Or...aha! A pick-up line! I mean, desperate times call for desperate measures...

"Hey, can I have your number? I dropped mine..." (Y/N) grinned to herself. Perfect ...right? Truth be told, (Y/N) didn't have much of an experience with flirting, but she'd read in books that pick-up lines were good.

It seemed to work because the boy pulled out a sheet of paper. He went to give it to her and hesitated.

"You know what? I can do better, pretty girl. It's Jace, by the way." He smirked as she went to take his hand, and dragged her closer. She could feel his breath, which smelled of mints and cologne, and she began to feel sweat dripping from her hands. She couldn't believe that this boy - Jace, he had told her - was about to kiss her. She leaned into him, and...

Sorry for the cliffhanger guys - oh wait, no I'm not. MUAHAHA! I feel so superior... hehe. Anyways, the next chapter will be out soon! I've decided that imma write this story on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and then Six Feet Under on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Sunday is gonna be my day off, but I may upload an extra chapter from time to time. Also, if I upload late please don't be angry, I gotta do homework and sometimes may not be able to go on my laptop. And finally, if this book gets to 10 reads (hey, I gotta start somewhere... low expectations mean I won't be disappointed ^-^) then I'm going to start dedicating chapters to people who get involved in my story.

So anyway, what do you think is going to happen? Comment and tell me, because your thoughts do count - just further into the story. I have a plan for the first few chapters though, so yeah.
