Chapter 1
Sometimes life hits you with surprises that you never expected. I sure as hell didn’t see my life turning into hell. I thought being by myself for 100 years was the best thing for me. But apparently life didn’t have that in store for me anymore. I lived in the forest, around a nice little stream that brings lots of fish and deer nearby for fresh pickings. Over the many years, I found myself the perfect little den that I made nice and homey with a blanket that some campers left behind when I scared them of course… that tends to happen more often than not, so I have many blankets to keep me warm and soft under my paws.
It was the perfect situation for me. I loved it and had no problem with being alone. Sure sometimes I wanted a friend but… I ended up eating all of them. So no friends for me. I’m very gentle and everything but my hunger takes over a bit. Being a werewolf is a full time job, yeah know. I haven’t shifted in that 100 years that I’ve been alone so I honestly have no idea how I’ve grown. I don’t even remember my own eye colour or hair colour.
It was a clear, sunny morning. Probably like 5 or 6 AM. I took a long, exhausting yawn and wrinkled my nose with my stiff neck. Feels like I’ve been sleeping for days. I padded out of my cozy den which kept me surprisingly cool compared to the burning heat outside that I was hit with. First things first, water. My tongue was sticking to the roof of my mouth and causes me to hit my canines. I didn’t care if I made any noise at all; I just stumbled along the path to the stream. I was in delight when my tongue lapped up that burning cold water. Felt amazing on my taste buds, it really woke me up for sure. And made me realize that my breakfast was waiting to be served. A couple meters just down from me on my left was a delicious looking deer. Poor thing had no idea that I was even here. Perfect.
I snuck around, going into the forest and coming around to be behind the young doe. Still unaware, I leaped and handed on the animal with a thud as it struggled to get away. I held it down with my large paw and quickly broke its neck before devouring into its flesh. Oh the blood was delicious and the meat was tender, just the way I like it.
Unfortunately, I never noticed until they were upon me, my unwanted visitors. The blood brought them. My ears caught the quick movement of rocks behind me. I turned to see three tall guys. Pale. Red eyes. I heard the same movement from the other direction; I jolted and saw another two guys across the stream from me. I lowered my body to the ground and flattened my ears. Vampires. Contrary to many peoples assumptions, werewolves and vampires are not enemies. Actually werewolves are scared of vampires and try their best to avoid them.
Before they could reach me, I tried to slink away, by crawling along the shore line to get away from them without making eye contact. Just when I thought I was in the clear, the one from across the shore was directly in front of me. I’m utterly terrified of vampires, for personal reasons of course. “Where do you think you’re going, mutt?” His voice was deep, extremely deep. I just couldn’t bring myself to look at him; I tried to sink as far into the rocks as possible. If I could disappear… this would be the perfect moment.
“Come on man, either kill it or let’s go. I’m hungry and wolf blood is disgusting.” One guy said with a fairly deep voice as he walked towards me. He kicked my rip cage… causing me to get angry. I growled and grabbed his leg in my mouth, gripping it with all my strength to give him a warning. “Mother fuck me, get this dog off me!” He yelled loudly trying to kick my muzzle.
“Enough!” The deeper voice spoke. I even stopped because his voice shook fear in my heart. I let go of his leg and hid my face with my paws. I don’t wanna die. “Hmm… Ralph, hand me that rope around your waist.” What on earth is he going to do with rope? Hang me? Suddenly I felt a hand go around my neck and quickly tie a very strong knot. I looked up and saw him holding the other end like a leash. I started to growl. I was NOT a pet! “I wouldn’t suggest it if you wish to live. I’m being kind.” He pulled my body up off the ground. “Now… walk”.
