I fell asleep for only a few hours. When I woke up, Ralph was gone. I checked the clock and it was 3 am. I wonder where he went, what he was doing. Maybe it had something to do with the way Riley snapped on me. I noticed that my body has healed pretty fast, I was no longer in any pain. The only thing that was left was scars from the shards of glass. I really wanted to know where Ralph went. I put my leather clothing back on, even though there were rips in it now. Even though he was dead, I could still smell him. He left recently. I looked in the mirror first. I shocked my head at the collar around my neck. What was the point if he no longer cared about me. I removed the collar and set it on the desk.
I set off to follow the scent and find Ralph. I wanted to know what he was up to. The hallways felt very strange. It was quiet especially since vampires don't sleep. I wondered why they even need beds, besides to do.. that. I continued to follow his smell down to the main floor... then to some stairs that led to the basement. I stopped at the top of the stairs. Blood. All I could smell now was blood. Like a blood bath. Multiple different scents of vampires came flooding into my nose.
Suddenly my heart ached. Riley was down there. Ralph was too. What were they doing? The smell of blood is so thick, but I can also hear loud dance type music. Flashing lights from the stairs. Seems like a dance, or rave of some sort. I've never heard of music like this before. But then again I've been a wolf for 100 years.
I shook my head. This is my chance. This is my only chance. I turned on my heels and ran as fast as I could. Slamming into the doors of the school and running like no tomorrow. I gave no cares about the stupid clothes that Riley forced me into. I'm not a pet. I refuse to be. Stupid vampire. I changed into my wolf and ran as fast as I could off the property. I would not stop running. I will never stop running until I am free. I ran into the forest and ran through trees and bushes, avoiding running into things, smelling my way through. The more I ran, and the further away from him that I was, the more free that I felt. I was myself again. My wolf was happy. I was happy.
I ran for several hours, probably 6 hours at this point. The heat of the day was finally setting in as it was close to noon. I felt drained and tired. I wasn't used to running anymore after being human for several weeks. I need to drink and relax. I sniffed out a pond near by and enjoyed a refreshing drink of water before laying down by the water and closing my eyes. I wasn't sleeping, I needed to stay alert incase they tracked me. I wonder if they even noticed by now that I was gone. Maybe they don't even care. Riley probably doesn't, he's probably so happy to get rid of me.
I noticed across the pond, well I smelt it first, but there was a deer. Young and delicious. My stomach growled at the sight. An afternoon snack might not hurt. Would give me the energy to continue right? I slowly got up, and crept around the the back side of it. It looked up every once in awhile, but wasn't smart enough to leave. At the perfect opportunity, I lept out and pounced, breaking its neck instantly. Painless. I began to feast on my well deserved meal.
But that's when I smelt something. Something.. or someone out of the ordinary. I turned my head, right as I heard a loud gun shot go off. I hit me like a rock. Instantly piercing my skin and blood pooled from my ribs. It burned. I was knocked off my feet and was on the ground beside the dead deer I had just killed. Human. It was a man.
"Fucking wolf killed my deer." He shouted from a bush. I scrambled to get up, still in pain. I had to get out as soon as possible. He would shoot me. But this time kill me. I got up and ran as fast as I could back into the safety of the forest. I blindly ran without thinking or smelling. I was in pain, and losing blood fast. I didn't know what to do. I was alone. Lost. And in the process of dying. The bullet was still inside me, I could feel it with every jolt in my body. What was I to do? I stopped running and noticed the trail of blood behind me. I walked slowly to what looked like a corner, maybe I was on a cliff. I went to look over the cliff, and instantly felt faint. I could feel my body shifting into my human form. I was too weak to stay a wolf. Once I shifted, I fell. I could feel my body falling. Suddenly I was hit with a burst of cold, and was submerged underwater.
And then it all went black.
