Sleeping Sun by Nightwish

A gray day covered the skies of all of Norway gently that morning, the rains were coming and going and the freezing weather was beginning to make it difficult for the everybody. A heated discussion among the Ragnarssons was firmly in the Great Hall, Ubbe had decided that Ivar and Sigurd would stay in Kattegat to protect the village while he and Hvitserk would go to Constantinople along with their older brother, all normal until then.

Eileen and the younger Ragnarsson were lying among the wet leaves of the bush watching the clouds closely, it was mesmerizing the way the winds crashed into them, dissipating in the air. Ivar had his head resting on her abdomen while she was cuddling braids, Eileen knew how to do a good massage and that was one of the few things that could soothe the crippled Viking so quickly.

"You're very quiet today." Ivar broke the silence, still with his eyes closed, taking advantage of the feel of her fingers sliding between his locks.
"I just need a good sleep, The Boneless" she said with a slight tug.
"What worries you?" Ivar opened his eyes, searching for hers and feeling hers firm hands lightly shake "Still afraid of the ocean?"
"In parts yes" Eileen sighed and Ivar sat down, pulling her to him. "I do not know what to think, Ivar. A part of me wants to run in this match along with Bjorn but the other wants to be hiding here with you and Sigurd"
"You have not told Ubbe yet?" Eileen looked away from the younger Ragnarsson, laying her head on his chest. "I see"
"He will know just in time, I'm not ready to meet my real parents"
"That sultan man is not your father, Eily" Ivar took her hand and brought it to her face, feeling it as icy as the rain "The Seer is your father. Those people are not your family, we are your family. Constantinople is not your place, Kattegat, all Norway is your place. That's all you need to remember"
"A sentimental The Boneless is not a pleasant thing to hear" Eileen laughed, feeling comfort in his words.
"You should stay here with me, I'll have a room ready for you in the Great Hall or you can stay with me in mine, but you should stay here. It's safer" Ivar spoke so fast that he needed to breathe and when he did, it was with regret in his voice "It's all so dangerous, I do not want to lose the only friend I have"
"I need to go, Ivar" The woman squeezed his hand tightly. "If I had not been brought by Ragnar, I would be like them. I just... I just want to know what it's like. Just for curiosity"
"Promise me you'll come back with them, please?"
"Yes, Ivar. I promise" Eileen laughed "Or do you think your brother will let me stay there?"
"Ubbe would bring you by strength, I'm sure of that."
"Well, I need to get back. I can not go to Constantinople dirty like that"
"You look fine to me."
"Come on, Ivar" Eileen tried to pull him away but she was caught by his embrace of death "Ivar... My bones..."
"I like you very much, my sister" Ivar whispered and Eileen felt her heart melt, return the hug.
"I like you too, little brother"
