Alec struggled as he was trying to stand up from the bench after putting on his roller skates. This was so out of the ordinary for him. Alec Lightwood in roller skates? A very rare sight indeed.
He slumped his shoulders in defeat causing him to slide off the bench and onto the floor.
If I couldn't get off the bench how the hell am I gonna manage to pick myself off the floor?
Alec acted as if it was the most causal thing in the world to just be laying there on the ground nodding his head in hello as people stared down at him strangely. He sat up a bit and looked out onto the roller skating rink. There, he saw his boyfriend, of all people Magnus Bane, majestically gliding across the floor in his roller skates. He gracefully spun around smiling in accomplishment.
The glitter from his coat dropped every so often adding to his majesty.
Alec shook his head laughing. He'll never admit it, but he has never been more fond.
He sighed and pulled himself up on his knees and gripped the bench and pushed himself back. He stood up halfway and rolled backwards. He desperately gripped the wall and thanked the angel that Magnus hasn't noticed his failed attempt to just stand up.
Alec looked around him and saw toddlers gliding past him on their roller skates. He mentally face palmed.
He's supposed to be the tough guy that can conquer anything and achieve anything.
But he doesn't look too good when toddlers can accomplish more than him at this point.
Alec felt himself dozing off and lost his balance.
He waved his arms around desperately trying to find a wall.
He then felt a soft pair of hands that felt as if they had rings on each finger grip his waist.
"Alexander, darling! The fun starts on the rink what are you still doing on the rug?" He heard Magnus say in a too oblivious tone.
"Jeez Magnus if i did in fact know how to skate I would be on the rink wouldn't you think?" Alec said rolling his eyes at his boyfriends obliviousness.
Magnus rolled in front of Alec still keeping his hands placed firmly on his waist. "Darling." He said soothingly. "That's why I'm here. I can teach you how to be as majestic and graceful as me! Actually wait no even you can't get those standards. You can't top me."
"You never let me top you though."
"Maybe later darling."
Alec sighed. "Alright so how do I move without face-planting on the ground because with my luck that's where I'm going."
Magnus smiled. "That's the spirit! I'm glad you're actually considering this and not face-planting purpose."
"Spirit? What spirit? In this case it's nonexistent." Alec said rolling his eyes.
"Alright shush!" Magnus said keeping one hand around Alec's waist while the other gripped his hand tightly. "Let me work my magic." Magnus said winking.
Alec looked off into the distance as if he was on "The Office"
Magnus slowly started skating over to the rink.
"Oh wow this is actually pretty easy!" Alec said smiling.
"Darling that's because I'm pulling you and because you aren't even moving your feet. The skates are moving for you."
Alec let out a long sigh and gripped onto Magnus tightly as he pulled him on the floor.
"Magnuuusss! The floor is slippery!" Alec's feet slid out from underneath him and he fell on his ass.
Magnus laughed as Alec sat there looking up at him pouting angrily.
"Oh cmon baby don't be mad! That's the fun part of it!" Magnus said gripping Alec's hands tightly pulling him up.
"Seeing your boyfriend fall on his ass-yes because that's the number reason why skating is fun." Alec said raising his eyebrow.
"In my case it is! Alright Alexander, I want you to try skating on your own without my help."
"I just fell on my ass and now I automatically get to skate on my own? Damn this is an easy but dangerous class." Alec said.
"Shadowhunters. Oh so stubborn."
"You're one to talk."
Magnus rolled his eyes playfully and skated a bit ahead of him and held his arms out.
"Skate to me baby!"
"How am I supposed to skate to you when you keep moving away from me!" Alec yelled over the music since Magnus was getting farther away from him.
"Then you gotta come catch me!" Magnus said joyfully skating away.
"You're gonna be the one that's supposed to catch me because I'm gonna fall on my ass-round 2." Alec muttered to no one in particular. A few skaters looked at him weirdly as he kept waving his arms trying to make himself move. "Problem?" He asked them and they scowled and skated away.
A few minutes later Alec had discovered that he had accomplished something. He moved 5 feet from where he first began.
He smiled proudly as he looked around the rink trying to find his boyfriend.
"Magnus?" Alec asked worriedly not seeing his boyfriend.
"Magnus!" Alec yelled getting worried. He couldn't see him on the rink at all. How could he have disappeared like that.
He then began frantically spinning around causing him to fall backwards. This is gonna definitely help me find Magnus. How did he trust me enough to leave me alone. Usually it's the other way around.
Magnus leaned over the wall that separated the floor from the food area and peered down at his boyfriend. "Alexander my darling! What are you doing down there?"
"Oh ya know. Just inspecting the floor for worms. Where have you been I was worried." Alec frowned looking up at him.
"Um...nothing darling I was just rolling around the food area. It's..nothing to worry about."
Alec frowned even more. If it was nothing to worry about why was he so unsure.
"Here Alexander let me help you up." He jumped over the small wall and pulled Alec up with no trouble at all.
Alec noticed that Magnus didn't have his skates on and stared at him in confusion. Magnus dragged Alec off the floor and sat him down on the bench and helped him take his skates off.
"Are we leaving? God bless." Alec smiled tying his shoes.
"Mmmm. Not quite yet." Magnus said smirking.
Alec tilted his head in confusion and saw Magnus was staring at the rink so Alec turned around too. Everybody had exited the rink. And the disco that hung high that had been spinning very fast came to a slow as the upbeat song ended.
Alec stood up still in confusion. "What's happening Magnus?"
Magnus didn't say anything but just grabbed Alec's hand and lead him onto the skating rink.
The DJ then put on the song, "Can't help falling in love" by Elvis Presley.
Alec stared in awe. "Magnus this is our song."
"I know Alec." Magnus said placing his hands on Alec's waist pulling him closer smiling fondly an swaying slightly.
Alec smiled wide wrapping his arms around magnus's neck. "Did you plan this?"
"Of course I did. I felt bad that I ruined the date by taking you here. You obviously weren't having fun and got hurt. So I wanted to make it up to you and I talked to the dj and asked if he could let us have this moment. Ya know, just you and me, no fast gliding skaters that'll make you angry." Magnus smiled rubbing his hand across Alec's waist in circles.
"Magnus you didn't have to do that. Any date with you is fine no matter where it is." Alec said swaying along to the beat of the music. "As long as I'm with you and as long as you're happy, then I'm happy. I love you magnus."
"I love you too darling."
They then kissed passionately, everything else around them a blur.
BA DUM TSSSS! My first chapter!! Ahhh I honestly had nothing planned I just made it up as I went haha. I'm actually pretty happy with it. Cute outcome am I right? Hope you guys liked!
