A/N EDIT 2022: I was 14 when I first wrote this book and I am currently 19. I did not know what the term "grooming" meant and had no idea it even existed if I'm being honest. Some may take this one shot the wrong way and think that Magnus groomed Alec when he was a child. I want everyone to know that was not my intention at all when I wrote this. I really hope I didn't offend anyone and I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the story.

1989-2018
Year: 1993
"Yes of course I understand the severity of the situation but I have way too many clients on my hands!" Magnus exclaimed to Maryse Lightwood.
"Magnus my son has turned into a cat! The other day when I brought him here he came home with a potion and drank it thinking it was a juice box!"
"Oh I'm so sorry that it's MY fault that your son can't tell the difference between a juice box and a potion bottle!" Magnus flicked his hair in annoyance.
"He's only 4 Magnus!"
Magnus sighed. He knew he wouldn't be able to get Maryse out of his loft.
"Alright let me see your...son."
Maryse handed him over a cat carrier. Magnus raised an eyebrow at how extra she was being by buying a cat carrier as if this boy was something to be worshipped over.
Magnus zipped open the carrier and immediately saw two blue scared eyes staring back at him. Magnus sighed and reached in and grabbed the cat gently and set him on the table.
"My poor baby" Maryse said sadly while petting the kitten.
Magnus rolled his eyes while digging around for a potions book. He made a satisfied sound when he finally found one.
With a few blue sparks and a few flicks of his fingers the kitten transformed from a tiny cat to a tiny boy.
Magnus took one look at the boy and was instantly mesmerized. Dark floppy hair, bright anxious blue eyes, small hands that looked like they could be worth a fortune one day-He quickly shook his head. Why on earth was he taking in a 4 year old boy so serious.
The boy looked up at Maryse as he sat crisscross on the ground. "Mommy!" He yelled and made grabby hands for Maryse. Maryse joyfully picked him up and hugged him close. "Thank you magnus."
"And on such short notice" Magnus said not taking his eyes off the boy.
"Mack noos" the little boy said over his mothers shoulder as she carried him out the door.
Year: 1997
"I can't babysit a child! Maryse there are cocktails everywhere in this place and you think that this place is childproof? What if he rips up my clothes and uses all my glitter?" Magnus complained to Maryse.
Maryse held the hand of her 8 year old child while glaring at Magnus. "Magnus please it's only for a short time."
"Last time that little rascal of yours was here he turned into a cat"
The little boy giggled at the memory.
"Magnus I understand but no one will take him in just please look after him. He's only 8. Maybe this could be the highlight of your day."
"The only highlight of my day is the glitter I'm wearing my dear"
Maryse rolled her eyes and gently pushed the boy forward. "Alright Alec sweetie you be nice to Magnus Alright? And remember don't get into any potions."
Alec was too busy gazing up at Magnus to listen to Maryse.
"See Magnus he already likes you. Take care of my boy please." And with that she walked away.
Magnus looked down in confusion at Alec. What was he supposed to do? He was just staring up at him.
"Why are you so sparkly?" Alec asked tilting his head.
"Because sparkly is my personality"
"Pursunallidy" Alec repeated.
"Uh yah sure whatever." Magnus said walking away.
Alec followed.
Magnus sat on the couch and turned on the television. Unfortunately the last thing he was watching was a cheesy love movie. And it just so happened that the two people decided to make love the minute Magnus turned on the tv.
"Oh sh-" Magnus said as he put his hand over Alec's eyes while trying to turn the tv off.
He managed to turn it off and uncovered Alec's eyes sighing in relief.
"What...what was that man doing to that lady?" Alec asked.
"What do you mean? You didn't see anything? Okay? If your mom asks you saw nothing." Magnus said in desperation.
"But He was hurting her! What if she needs help! I should go save her!" Alec said stamping his feet on the ground.
Magnus sighed and hesitated then lifted Alec up onto the couch beside him. "How about we forget about that and do something else shall we?"
Alec pouted in response causing Magnus to give a slight smile.
"Ooo i know what we could do!" Magnus exclaimed happily.
Alec looked up at him questionable with a little hope in his eyes.
Magnus stood up and lifted little Alec up onto his shoulders and started spinning around in circles.
All that could be heard through the apartment was Alec's giggles and magnus's laughter.
Magnus then ran out onto his balcony almost running into the door.
He sighed out of breath and set Alec down on the two people swing that was near the ledge.
Magnus sat beside him and sighed in exhaustion and pointed at the view of New York City.
"Alexander do you know where we are?"
"Disney World?!" Alec shouted happily.
"No. But maybe one day. This is New York City. I've lived here for the longest time and I know every inch every building every rock-well maybe not to that extent-but I know just about everyone and everything here."
Alec sat up on his knees amazed gazing out across the ledge.
Magnus put one hand on Alec's back to make sure he wouldn't fall.
"Can I climb on the ledge?" Alec asked excitedly.
"Uh...um...well I don't-"
"Pleeeeaaassseeee." Alec asked giving Magnus puppy dog eyes.
Magnus sighed out a "Children" and lifted up Alec and stood him up on the edge but keeping both hands on his waist.
This is just like the class Titanic movie Magnus thought. No wait that's disgusting I'm not a pedophile why would I ever compare that to this.
Alec giggled as he excitedly pointed to buildings and started making up stories about each one of them.
Which Magnus of course had to pretend they were true and acknowledge how he was the smartest little boy in all of New York.
Maryse knocked on the door several times but no one answered. She glared and opened the door knowing Magnus always forgets to lock it.
"Magnus Bane I wi-" she then stopped dead in her tracks. There on the couch was Alec wrapped in a blanket fast asleep with Magnus on the floor beside him.
YAAAAAAAAA SO THAT WAS PART 1! If the whole year change doesn't make sense to you it will sooner or later.
