It was now after school and Jaebum was being pulled by Jackson while (M/n) walked besides them. They made it to a nice sleek black sports car. It was probably the nicest car Jaebum had ever seen. And of course, it belonged to the one and only (M/n). Mark had already been waiting beside the car, tapping his foot impatiently.

"Markipooh!" Jackson cheered before unlatching himself from Jaebum and crushing Mark in an intense hug. Jaebum swore he could hear something crack. Mark and Jackson sat in the back seat forcing Jaebum to sit in the passenger seat which was right next to (M/n) who was driving.

"Hey Mark, did you tell the others to meet at the usual place?" (M/n) asked, looking in the review mirror before pulling backing out of his parking space.

"I did. You'll probably see Jinyoung's car on the way." Mark stated while trying to fight off Jackson's affectionate kisses.

(M/n) smacked his hand around his cup holders and other random places as if looking for something. In that process of frantically smacking his car he "accidentally" smacked Jaebum's thigh.

"Hey!" Jaebum shouted, smacking (M/n)'s hand harshly. "What are you looking for?!" He nearly shouted.

"Sunglasses." (M/n) muttered, still feeling around his car. Jaebum looked around, seeing said sunglasses on the dashboard. He reached for them before handing them to (M/n).

"Thanks babe." Both Mark and Jackson looked up from their seats at (M/n) in shock and awe. Meanwhile Jaebum was furious.

"You're lucky you're driving." Jaebum growled, looking like he was about to knock (M/n)'s lights out. By then (M/n) had put on the sunglasses and was a smirking little bastard. Jaebum, being very petty at the moment, reached for (M/n) sunglasses, pulling them off of his face.

By that point they were on some back roads that were completely empty. Jinyoung's car was right next to their and they could practically hear the loud music blasting from the other car. (M/n) revved the engine in his car as if challenging Jinyoung. Jinyoung revved his engine back and it continued like this for a minute before (M/n) floored it. Jaebum screeched but the two in the back seemed completely used to this.

Jaebum was so shocked he couldn't even speak. They were racing. He whipped his head between looking at Mark and Jackson who made it seem like this was a normal thing and (M/n) who had a determined look on his face. So Jaebum did what any sane person would do. He squeezed his eyes shut and hoped for the best.

He didn't even notice when they had started slowing down until the car made a beeping noise meaning it had been put from drive into park. Jaebum immediately got out of the car, stabilizing himself before glaring at (M/n). Then he did the same thing he did in the lunch line earlier that day.

He socked (M/n) in the face as hard as he could. (M/n) stumbled, clutching his nose as it bled. "That's for calling me babe." Then he threw (M/n)'s sunglasses onto the ground before crushing them. "And that's for almost giving me a heart attack."

(M/n) smiled like a dork. "Sorry?" Jaebum just scoffed and looked at the place they stopped at. It was a bar? (M/n) skipped towards the bar happily with Jaebum and everyone following him except for Mark and Jackson who hung behind a bit.

"So much for operation get (M/n) and Jaebum together. Jaebum hates him." Mark stated.

"Nonsense! You know how you're mean to the people you have a crush on? That's what's happening!" Jackson claimed.

Mark just sighed, "If you say so. I don't remember you being mean to me to get my attention."

"It's because you were the mean one." Jackson mumbled, rubbing the spot where an iPad had been thrown at him.

"Hey, he threw a laptop at me and we didn't even end up together!" Bambam cut in.

"Maybe Mark hyung is just mean in general." Yugyeom offered.

Mark inspected the phone in his hand as if contemplating whether or not to throw it at Yugyeom. Instead of doing anything he just continued walking. Right before he stepped into the bar he turned around, looking Yugyeom dead in the eyes, "You're next."

Yugyeom shivered. "I take back what I said. Mark hyung isn't mean, he's terrifying." Jackson and Bambam nodded rapidly in agreement. The bar was empty yet it still looked like it was modern and in use. The interior was rather dark with a lot of neon glowing signs. The air was light and the sun that went through the windows reflected beautifully against the glass bottles of various liquors.

"What is this place? It feels like...like reality is being altered..." Jaebum looked at (M/n), who had cleaned the blood off of his face, for an explanation.

"It's just a regular bar. But the feeling you're getting is because this place is a liminal space." (M/n) explained while wandering behind the bar.

"What's a liminal space?" Jaebum questioned. The other males all sat in the chairs at the bar. Jaebum sat in a chair, staring at (M/n) with the look of a puppy waiting for a treat from its owner.

"A liminal space is kind of like a gateway. It's a place where you're at just to get to another place. Kind of like an airport. You're not there just to be at the airport, you're there to get on a plane. It feels weird because because its existence isn't about the place, it's about what's before and after the place. This is a place you're not supposed to be in for long enough to think about it as it's own entity. But since you're here and thinking about it as it's own entity rather than just a gateway time feels strange." (M/n) explained.

"But that doesn't make sense. This is a bar, not a passing place like an airport." Jaebum stated, furrowing his brows in confusion.

"You're right. Technically this place isn't a passing place, but it becomes a liminal space because of the context. You probably would imagine a bar like this to be filled with people, but when it's not it messes with your mind. And like I said, you're never really supposed to be here long enough to think of this place as it's own entity." (M/n) said while leaning on his palm and staring at Jaebum with a strange look in his eyes.

"Damn." Jinyoung whistled. "Whenever we asked you why this place was so strange you just told us, and I quote, 'maybe it's not the place that's weird but you guys' then proceeded to stick your tongue out at us."

"Shut up!" (M/n) hissed while covering his reddening face.

Idk where that whole thing about liminal spaces came from...I guess I was just in love with the thought of the feeling? If that makes any sense. Anywayssss another chapter cuz I kinda feel bad for not updating for so long?? Either way, I have had an epiphany and I kinda know what direction I wanna steer this in.

Thanks for reading!!!
