We Are Alright

Chapter 1:

Hurrying off to school, feeling anxious and nervous, on the first day of the school year. I just moved in my new home and now I have to go to this school called Willingen Elementary. I'm gonna be in 5th grade! I'm so excited!

I got into the car with my brother, Chris, who is 14 and still very annoying.

"Oh, don't you look cute!" Said my mom to me, with an admiring voice. I was wearing a short sleeve purple shirt with two butterflies on it and Jean shorts. I gave her a nod as if I was saying "thank you".

It was only a 15 minute drive to school, but it seemed like it took only 2 minutes to get there. The school was huge and had so many people around it. I guess it seems a lot bigger to me because I used to go to a private school and now I'm going to a public school.

"Whoa, watch it shorty!" Said this tall, skinny, blonde girl, bumping into me causing all my books to fall. Ok, yes I am short but do you really have to make fun of me for it.

"S-sorry.." I said guiltily.

"You better be." She said, very sassy, flipping her hair into my face and walking away with her huge group of friends behind her.

I finally reached my classroom, still a little sad of what happened like just a minute earlier.

Everyone was talking to all their friends. Gosh, I feel like such a loner...

"Hey...uh you're the new girl right?" Said some high pitch but sweet voice from behind me.

"Oh yeah. My name is Jessica Erikens. What is yours?" I said. New girl? That made me feel weird. I have never been called that. It made me feel more of a loner than I already am.

"Nice! I am gonna call you Jess for short. It's easier. My names Gabi Hamrag. Hey do you want to be friends? My old friend kinda left me for Ashlynn Fanker. Ugh she is so mean! Why does she have so many friends?" Gabi said with a disgusted look on her face.

"Yeah you can call me that. And who is Ashlynn Fanbo-er-a...whatever you said?"

"Ashlynn Fanker. She-is-right-over there." She said while looking and the pointing her finger toward Ashlynn. Yep, same blonde girl that made fun of me this morning.

The day went by pretty slow. Thankfully Gabi and I had most classes together!

"Hey! Jess! Guess what!-" not even letting me say anything, Gabi went on, "so I know we both don't like Ashlynn, but she is having a 'beginning-of-the-year' party at the arcade! We should totally go!" She squealed. I could tell she really likes the arcade if she wants to go when someone we don't like is going.

"Oh. Yeah. Sure. Yeah, see you there. Bye!" I said, hugging her. Honestly, I really don't wanna go. Especially because of Ashlynn. Just no. But I can't let my only friend down. Can I?

When I got home I changed quickly into a spaghetti strapped shirt and darker jean shorts. I also wore my black high top converse. I put on these heart shaped earrings and a long necklace with a diamond shape thingy on it. I didn't really want to look that bad because of Ashlynn. I know she can easily make fun of me and I don't wanna to allow her to so easily.

I met Gabi when I got there. She was dressed in a purple short sleeve shirt and jeans shorts like mine. She had round earrings also. Her dark brown hair was down and looking really pretty. Well Gabi is really pretty.

We walked in and of course we saw Ashlynn surrounded by so many people I could barely count. She was wearing a shirt that stopping just above her belly button. Whoa who would wear that! She is in 5th grade for crying out load! She was always wearing really short shorts. Now I don't really question why all the guys like her...

"Did I say you were invited?" That snobby little voice said behind me.

"The whole class was...of course I was invited" I said back. Turning around seeing Ashlynn looking at me with her evil eyes and her huge group of "friends" behind her.

"Well maybe you should just leave."

"You don't own this place."

"Um yeah actually I do. My dad owns it. Therefore I can kick you out. So go. Now." She said very mean.

"Fine I don't even wanna be here." I said walking toward the pay phone to call my mom.

"Hey. Why don't you just join my group. You don't want to hang out with her do you?" I heard Ashlynn say to Gabi.

"Well she is my friend so I'm good. Thanks." She said back. Thank god!

"Your loss!"

My mom picked me up 15 minutes later and drove me home. I just went straight up to my room and layed on my bed. Then I got a phone call.

"Hey this is Gabi. Sorry you got kicked out. When you left I called my mom to pick me up too. I am NOT staying there alone with her in the room." Gabi said. I was actually relieved to hear her talk.

"Oh hey!" I said back.

"Whoa whoa wait. Are you crying?" She asked very worried.

"Sorry. Ashlynn is just so mean." I honestly didn't realize I was crying.

"Ugh I know right! I am really sorry. I have to go to bed though. I hope you're okay! See you tomorrow bye!" She said hanging up the phone.
