Julian gets on his knees to the side of his bed, resting his forehead on his fists. "Hi, God. I know we haven't talked in a while. I've been kinda an asshole lately, actually, for like the last thirty years. I've really fucked up my life. I don't deserve anything, much less what I'm asking for. I want a family. I want my family back, but I know at this point it's hopeless. Maybe you can send me someone for a second chance, or twentieth chance."
He takes a deep breath, glancing over at the picture of him and Leo from Christmas. "I want that, I want to be a father. I wanna raise my kids, I mean, really raise them. I don't want visitation or partial custody, I wanna be their dad. I wanna be their hero, their world. I want them to feel safe with me, but more than that, I wanna be their safe place. I wanna get the chance to be a father, a chance I've always lost."
He pauses and looks at his wedding ring, still on his finger. There's another pause, but he takes the silver band off and puts it in his bedside table drawer. He goes back to his original position. "I want someone who loves me almost as much as I love them, maybe more. I wanna feel that click with another person. I need a woman I can call my wife, with pride. I want a woman who'll be a mom to any kids we have and not just a mother. Please, God, I've never asked for anything before, but I want another chance. Just one more, I won't waste this one, I promise."

Julian's made his wish, I wonder if it'll come true. And if it does, how it'll show itself.

The next few chapters will have some sexual themes, but after those they settle down. It's just because there's a lot that needs to happen for the rest of story to take place.
