Amelia became my first and only friend. I was over the moon with joy, of course I didn't show it much.

It was break time. We got our lunch from the canteen. I guided Amelia over to my usual lunch table at the far back. Once we settled down Amelia took a big bite out of her raisin muffin. I smiled to myself and counted down the seconds....3...2...1

At just the right moment she scrunched up her face and spit the muffin onto her napkin.

"That is the worst muffin I have ever taste in my whole entire life. What is it?"

I couldn't handle it anymore and burst out laughing. A few people from nearby tables stared at me but right then I couldn't care less. The look on Amelia's face was priceless. As I stopped to wipe a tear that escaped from my eye I noticed that Amelia was gaping at me. I was suddenly taken by a feeling I couldn't quite put my finger on, was it fear or maybe shame, all I knew was that I blew my first friendship.

Then suddenly she was laughing. She was laughing so hard that she was clutching her stomach. It took a while for her to calm down.

"Raven you have relax more often."

She rummaged in her bag for something.

"Here take this, I know it might seem sappy or something especially since we're both fifteen, but it's to mark our friendship so basically we're best friends now."

She held a little charm bracelet, identical to the one she wore on her wrist except hers was white and mine was black. She slipped it on my wrist.
My heart felt like it was about to explode into a million pieces. For years I was bullied, criticised, and tormented...I was a loner. Now this girl comes into my life and says she wants to be my best friend. I couldn't describe the feeling I was having.

I looked back at Amelia and somehow knew that our friendship will last, whatever might come between us we will always have each others backs.
