I enter my "supposed home" and rush inside, excited to tell Gran about the party. The blood from my face drains when I see the scene in front of me. Gran is lying on the floor with shards of glass from a bottle beside her. I don't hesitate to rush by her side. She lets out a soft moan as I struggle to lay her head on my lap. I gasp when I see a deep, red gash running from her temples to her eyebrow. She opens her eyes and focuses them on me.

"R...Raven? Is that really you?" she mumbles.

I nod my head, unable to form any words as tears streak my face. I let out a soft sob.

"Raven, you have to listen to me. G..Go pack a few things and get out of here. Mitchell is in a very bad mood. He's coming ba...back, but before he gets here you have to escape."

Gran's voice firm but I couldn't just leave her.

"No! What about you? Why is Michelle so angry? Gran I'm scared!!"

With trembling hands, Gran touched my cheek.

"Raven before you leave there i..is a brown bo..box under my bed, take that with you.Raven, I'm sor...sorry but now that I'm old and nearing my time, I won't be able to pro...protect you. You have to escape please it's my last w...wish."

She took her last breath and then she was gone. A deep hollow filled the pit of my stomach, something I lost forever and will never get back.

"Gran! Gran please! Wake up!!!"

I cried, I screamed but inside I knew nothing can bring her back. I wanted to mourn and dig Gran a respectable grave but I had no time. If I wanted to fulfill Gran's last wish I had to do it now.

I kissed her cold cheek and then laid her head gently on the floor. I grabbed her favourite blanket and laid it on her.

I ran upstairs to my room. I grabbed my school bag, poured out the contents and shoved a few clothes in there. I ran downstairs, went into Grans room and looked under her bed. There, just as she said, was a brown box. I shoved it in my bag and literally ran out the door. My heart was beating really fast. I didn't know when Mitchell would get back. I didn't know when would he find out. I didn't know where I was running to. There was a lot of things I didn't know.
