Blu knew something was off when Varvara, one of her limited close friends, informed her of the job. The one that would lead a giant step closer to reach her dream.

"Don't play around, Vee."

She had warned once Varvara told her all the news through a phone call. Now, she'd demanded the younger kid to come over and spill out each and every detail related to the job.

"And don't pretend to forget the fishy job vacancy."

She had also said, once again, just before hanging up right away. Blu had known Varvara long enough to know what her best friend would do. A little precaution was deliberately needed.

Blu would find out whether the perfect requirements Varvara had mentioned before was just one of a thousand reasons of her fibbing ass.

She was glad when Varvara indeed appeared on her doorstep with a paper which seemed to be the one she was asking her to bring. But the more Blu inspected it, her relieved form only switched into one of a doubtful.

Is that the... job vacancy?

"Let me explain," Varvara said, as if answering her thoughts. Or was she indeed?

Varvara pushed her friend to the side before letting herself into the house. She closed the door before dragging Blu to her room, as if she was the owner.

Blu was aware somehow Varvara had thought of her problem as a joke. Yet one thing for sure, there was none of Blu's plans as much a joke when her future depended on it.

She was definitely going to do something she would enjoy, and becoming a lawyer was a big no. She had seen how her parents dealt with tons of tasks during their working hour-which could possibly mean 24/7.

They barely had time to eat three times a day, especially being veterans on the said department. Let alone giving enough attention to their children.

But still, the doubtful piece of paper in Varvara's hand held no promises. She was desperate and she certainly didn't have other choice than going to law school as her parents wished. Which didn't hold any promises she would graduate either.

"You better start now!" Blu said once both of them were settled on her bed.

"Alright, chill. I know it doesn't look like a decent job hiring poster, but I personally can guarantee you it's a hundred percent safe and real. Plus it's just for a few weeks till I find the real candidates."

"And how come you're so sure when whoever made this ain't even sure of what they were doing?"

"Yeah, the person made this is totally an idiot. Don't yell at me, but Killian and his mates need you."

Blu gave the girl a look. Since when Killian, one of Varvara's brothers, knew she was a decent uncertified cook?

Scratch that. Since when did he know about her existence?

She wouldn't have found it as shocking if it was Shiloh or Gun, Varvara was talking about. Or even all of Varvara's brothers but Killian. He was too awkward to remember a girl's name outside family members.

Why would he hire a specimen he'd been avoiding most, now?

"Let me see."

Blu took the paper from Varvara's grip, watching her with speculating eyes. In turn, Varvara flashed Blu an awkward grin, evoking the image of a certain brother she was currently thinking about.

The doubtful look that stuck on Blu's face only shrank deeper. Just by reading the first requirement had justified her guesswork.

"Fvck's sake, Vee?"
