''Smells heavenly ''.Avni says as she comes downstairs and the aroma of Ayesha Ma's special Poha reaches her nostrils. She undoubtedly loves poha. Her first and last love-Poha.

''After all dekhna parega nah ki chef kon hai'' Ayesha says and pecks Avni's forehead while serving her breakfast.

Avni gives a small smile to her mother and digs in to the delicious dish.

''Aj mera binahi superstar?'' Ashish says as he sits on the chair next to Avni. ''Blame Ma. Why does she have to cook such an irresistible mouth watering dish?'' Avni replies and laughs along with her father.

'' So are you excited?'' Asks Ayesha as she sits with them in the table and serves breakfast to Ashish.

''Yes'' Avni replies faintly and offers a half hearted smile. Ayesha and Ashish both could sense the hollowness in her reply. They know how hard it's for their daughter to be back in the city where her childhood was tainted and destroyed . They had also pretended to forget the incident for Avni's sake but still those malicious memories keeps haunting them. They remember when Avni had became completely unresponsive after returning from Rang mahal. She wouldn't speak to anyone for days and would wake up in midnight screaming from her nightmare . And soon after screaming and crying she would vomit out her dinner. She would barely eat, even her favourite Poha would be left untouched in her plate. They had almost lost her for the second time when Avni was admitted to the hospital due to starvation and extremely low blood pressure.

A chill runs down Ayesha's spine as she recalls the wounds Avni had returned with. They were vicious and horrendous. She was beaten repeatedly for days in the Rang mahal . The amount of atrocities Avni had faced were uncountable. The scars still covers her body which which she hides by wearing full sleeved dresses.

Ashish wipes the stray tear that had fallen from Ayesha's eyes even unknown to her.

''Everything will be fine beta'' Ayesha assures to Avni.

''Things were never fine for me Ma and never will be . But your daughter has become habituated to this . Don't worry.'' Avni says.

Ayesha's reply gets interrupted by the ringing of Avni's phone. A small smile crept on Avni's face by seeing Neela Ma's name in caller id. She excuses herself and receives the call.

''Did you reach yet ma?'' Avni asks.

''Hello to u too beta. And yes i have reached safely ''

''I already miss u'' Avni says.

''I will always miss u more. So ur first day huh? I hope this day brings happiness in ur life!''. Neela says excitedly.

''Ma how can a simple day bring happiness to my bland and ominous life?'' Avni says with a heavy voice.

Avni has always felt free to express her emotions to Neela. She doesn't have to pretend to be happy in front of Neela.

''A day won't but a special person might'' Neela says with a sad smile on her face.

'' Ma please how many times do I have to tell u ! I don't want a Prince Charming and I am not a damsel in distress. I can take care of myself and smile on my own accord. Besides no boy in his right state of mind will even dare to look at me let alone be friends with me.'' Avni says with anger evident in her voice.

On the other hand Neela knows for certain that her daughter will get the happiness she deserves. She has full faith on God and knows that He will serve justice to her daughter by giving her happiness. Avni is not a damsel in distress, she's brave but at the same time she is very alone. And at some point of life you need someone to be there for you and bring a smile on your face.

''Tumhari kismath meri jaisi nahi hogi Avni'' Neela thinks to herself.

''I know that my sherni will shoo away the boys but the special one will never leave your side, no matter how much you try to scare him away. I am your mother and my mother instincts tell me that beta you will find your happiness soon. For some reason I am having a good feeling today that this day would be a very memorable day for u .'' Neela says with a a hopeful voice.

''Ma I am getting late. I will call u once I come back'' Avni says trying to avoid the conversation. She hangs up without waiting for Neela's reply.

She had given up her hope of having a normal life and no more good wishes would ever ignite the hope again. She doesn't want to get attached to anyone and also bring darkness to their life like she thinks she bought on her family's life.

''Avni! Ali has been waiting for u since a long time!'' Ayesha shouts to Avni. Avni goes outside to meet Ali after saying her goodbyes to her parents.

''Agayi madam ji. Aur late ati after all your chauffeur is at your service for 24/7.'' Ali says in a irritated tone. Anvi comes and pulls Ali's cheeks and ruffles his hair.

'' Areh driver uncle thoda aur der seh ata meyna toh khana bhi nahi khaya hai'' Avni says to Ali in a mocking tone.

''Yaar Avni tu shach me bohat buri han. Tujha Riya seh nahi milaugaa'' Ali says.

''Shut up. Riya se toh ma milkahi rahogi for sure. And adjust karle , Avni Mehta ek bohat buri insan han.'' Avni says seriously.

Ali realises what he had said and how his words had stung her. ''I didn't mean it that way and khabadar meri avu ko buri kaha toh. '' Ali says and try to apologise.

''Chal chal butter bread ka liya bacha kar rakh'' Avni says and sits in the car with Ali.

''Avni tu buri nahi han. I just hope tujha khud ki khushi mill jai or huma hamari playful Avni wapas mill jai'' Ali thinks to himself.

They reach the college.

At the college gate-

''Avni tu utar meh car park karka atahu'' Ali says. Avni comes outside and looks at the structure.

''It surely is very big compared to my previous college'' she thinks and goes inside.

While walking she stumbles and notices that the laces of her sneakers are untied. Avni bents down to tie them.

On the other side Neil was running fast to enter the college since he didn't want to be late as Juhi had wanted to see him urgently. While running he didn't see a body bending in front of him and collides with Avni and tumbles down.

THUMP!!!!

A body crashes on Avni's body and falls down taking Avni with her as he was trying to grip her hand for support. Avni falls on top of the body.

Brown.. Is the first thought that registers in Avni's mind. Beautiful brown orbs that for some reason gave her a sense of tranquility. She had always been a fan of brown eyes as her own eyes are very dark brown almost black hence her fascination with brown eyes. Those brown orbs for some reason caused her heart to race very fast. Her breath hitched and butterflies started an excited dance in her stomach . All these feelings were completely new for her.

Loneliness... Is the first thought that came to Neil's mind as he stared into the dark onyx black eyes of hers. He was truly mesmerised. And never once in his life he had ever been so much fascinated with anyone's eyes like he was with hers. His hands were encircled around her waist for support. The world became a blur and the only thing he saw were the hollowness that lies in her eyes . It felt like she was hiding thousands of emotions and pain betneath them. Her eyes lacked the sparkle; lacked liveliness.

They both kept staring into each other's eyes completely oblivious to the fact that the entire college had gathered to witness the scene.
