Every leaf turned golden that day
With the roads wet
And the sky's grey
Every soul spun open that day
With sunken hearts
All torn away
Smiles faded and eyes dimmed
With a chilling ache
From limb to limb
Every moment seemed
Like a step closer to the end
Mourning the loss of beauty
When you left that day
Colours were no longer bright
My smile no longer wide
And the tears I had to hide
I couldn't tell anyone
That my world was fading to grey
Light slowly seeping from the cracks
You left behind
You walked away as if without a care
That you had just taken a piece of me
Leaving my puzzle incomplete
But the truth of it is
It's not the fact that you left, that felt like a stab in the heart
It's the fact that you had always told me...
