I was running and stumbling, swiftly making my way through a back alley in Kakos. It’s been three months since Ender, Hayden, Ellie and I broke into Kakos.
The walls were giant and solid. I scaled the wall and lunged myself over. That’s when I saw the Proxies. They had Ender and Hayden, but not Ellie. Ellie must have double crossed us. I wasn’t worried about that at the time. I was more worried about how I didn’t see them while I was getting over the wall. I stayed up on the top of the wall while Ender and Hayden were hauled off to, God knows where! I lied down on the top on the wall. I tried to make myself flat and unnoticeable. The top of the wall was ice cold like in an icebox full of frozen items. I can't describe my feeling during this moment. I was, for once, scared shitless. As soon as I saw the Proxies leave, I skidded down the wall to the hell Kakos held. I scanned the range I was in very precisely. I had to make my rescue as ghostly as possible.
But all of that happened three months ago. It’s pretty obvious my rescue wasn’t as quiet as I wanted it to be. I had to find somewhere to rest. I felt like someone was pushing on my chest, making me windless. I needed water, something everyone needed, even Juggernauts. I stumbled on a piece of the cement and crashed into the ground, scraping my arm. My elbow was gushing blood. I heard dogs barking. The barks sounded inhumane, almost like they wanted my blood.
I turned over on my back. Proxies were corning me in both directions to escape. They were literally on top of me. I glared at a Proxy taking a Taser out of his tuxedo and putting his finger on the trigger. I knew any sudden movements to escape he would shoot it and light me up like a Christmas tree, but what the hell? I flipped up and grabbed his throat. He shot me in the stomach with the Taser gun, and shocked his throat because I was holding on to it. I don’t really remember much after that except hearing people asking if he’s okay. He was dead.
I woke up in a lab. Looking around I realized no one was around. I was alone. I looked around at everything that was attached to me. I took my IV out and ripped the attachments off that were glued to my head. It took me a moment to realize I didn’t feel it. Neither did I feel the Taser.
“Fuck”, I screamed.
I couldn’t feel anything. Not even the slightest pinch. I couldn’t feel anymore.
I got up off the bed and looked around for clothes. Nothing. Not even a patient gown. I looked over at the room’s exit. Next to the door, there was a dresser. I dashed over to the dresser and opened it. Inside was a Proxy uniform, a .357 Desert Eagle and sun glasses with a black tint. I was set.
I dressed in the uniform and put on the sun glasses. I took the gun and slid it in the pocket of the tuxedo. I was set. I made my way out of the room into the hallway. No one. No one was on the floor, or the whole hospital itself!
I ran out of the hospital until I got to the exit doors of the hospital. I was outside and so was the whole rest of the city. I was casually walking into the crowd that was formed into a circle around two people, Ellie and Jinx. There was a public hanging going on and it was the perfect opportunity to move in close to get a close target on him.
Chants of people swam throughout my ears. Jinx was saying something on top of a stage, but I wasn’t close enough to hear yet. I pushed through people and made it to the front. Ellie’s head was covered by a black hood and her neck was snuggling with a rope. They were having a public hanging!
“People, Survivors, it’s time that we start enforcing rules in Kakos. Anyone who commits treason will be hanged! This precious face helped me lure in the most wanted person in the globe, then turns around and lets out her friends; ones who will come back to rescue her. This is unacceptable and we as a nation need to take action”, said Jinx.
A man who was standing in the crowd said, “I say kill the bitch!” Most people in the crowd chanted “YEAH.”
I took my gun out and put it down at my side. I wanted to keep it hidden until I knew my range was decent, to shoot him. I looked around at people fist pumping and screeching.
“HE HAS A GUN!”
I spun my head around quick. I elbowed the guy that screamed, in the face, but it did no use. He was knocked out and everyone else was staring at me. I was going to need to fight.
“Klaus, how nice of you to join us”, said Jinx as he walked over to Ellie.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Proxies start to form a circle around me. There were eight. I could do that. Take down only eight. I held up my gun and pointed it at Jinx. Everyone stopped and gasped. I slid out the magazine to check how many bullets there were. Nine.
“What are you going to do with that Klaus, shoot me”, said Jinx.
“No”, I said. “Shoot her!”
Without thinking I whipped the gun over to Ellie and aimed at her rope. I shot the rope right above her setting her free. It sounded like scissors cutting a thin piece of paper.
“ELLIE RUN”, I screamed.
I spun to my right and saw a Proxy dashing toward me with an evil expression on his face. I whipped my gun at him and put a bullet in his head. The bullet entered his head, but didn’t go anywhere else. It was lodged in his head. Blood was gushing out of the entry hole and he collapsed. The other Proxies stopped.
Seven bullets were left. I pointed my gun at another Proxy and shot him in his throat.
Six.
I swung around to the other direction and shot the Proxy through the mouth. Blood spewed out of the back of his head and out of his mouth.
Five.
I looked around. The crowd of people had backed up and they all had frightened expressions on their face. They were staring at me like I was the antichrist that was ending the world. No, that was Jinx. He was the antichrist! It’s not me!
I fell to the ground. The ground was heavier than the air. That means it was hot underneath the road. There had to have been something below the streets. I was very confused. I wasn’t sure what it was, but I was going to find out.
I flew up from the ground. I shot the five proxies that were dashing for me. They all fell to the ground with their chests gushing blood. I ran through the crowd to get to Jinx. He was standing on the stage with a smirk on his face. Jinx was about 5’9 with white hair. He was 110 percent pure evil. His eyes were a shade of blood red. He was the devil himself.
“Klaus”
“Jinx”
I jumped up and side snapped kicked him in his chest. He flew backward and landed at the end of the stage. The stage shook and cracked where he landed. He jumped up faster than I’ve ever seen anyone get up. It was literally in a blink of an eye. He dashed toward me in a blink of an eye and grabbed me by the throat. His grip on my throat was most likely painful, but I couldn’t feel it. Just my air supply was being cut off. He stared at me and smiled. His eyes illuminated a dark red. He then threw me twenty feet into a cluster of boxes. The pain of that probably would’ve been a bitch!
I looked up and Jinx was gone.
“Where the hell did he go”, I screamed.
“Right here”, Jinx’s voice came from behind me.
I looked behind me and he punched me. I was knocked out. I woke up to someone slapping me.
“Klaus, you’re alive”, a girl’s voice said.
“Yeah, who are you”, I said.
“Klaus, you don’t remember? It’s us, Hayden and Ender.”
“Hey”, Ender said.
Suddenly, I remembered who they were. I remembered everything, but what the date was and how I got to be with them now.
“Guys, how the hell did I get here?”
Hayden looked at Ender then back down at me. I knew there was something she didn’t want to tell me.
Hayden looked at me and said, “Klaus, we killed Jinx.”
