We accept the love we think we deserve.
Dani x Kuroko
This happened the next day after they confessed on the phone.
---
Danielle took a deep breath after entering the treshold of the gym.
Her hands kept trembling so she inserted it into her coat pocket. There was this feeling of excitement and anxiousness building at the pit of her stomach as she goes closer to the team.
"Yo." Kagami greeted as soon as he saw her.
Danielle can only nod, unable to speak in fear of knowing that she can't form a normal sentence without her voice quivering.
Her cold emerald eyes scanned the place in hopes of finding the person she's been looking for but he was nowhere to be found. Either that or she actually can't see him because of his small presence.
He will show up in the most unexpected times causing to scare the hell out of people. That's just how Kuroko rolls.
"Kagami, where's Kuroko?" Danielle asks.
Kagami stared at her a little too long than intended which made Dani feel uneasy in an instant.
Does he know? She thought.
"Hemmington-san..."
Dani perked up at the sound of his passive voice. That monotonous voice that she loves to hear everytime. She would've love the sound of her name when he voiced it... if only he just called her by her first name.
As if she wasn't affected by the sudden formality, Danielle turned to glance at him and smiled. "Yes?" She gave him a forced smile.
Of course, Kuroko had noticed the smile-- with his observational skills and all-- but he ignored it and went on with what he wants to say. "Kagami-kun and I need to skip practice for the mean time."
Danielle scowled. She was disapppointed and hurt that Kuroko barely acknowledged the conversation they had. She wasn't hoping that he'll actually hug her straight way-- atleast show some sweetness-- after all, they did somehow confessed on the phone last night.
"Hmm?" She hummed. "Where are you going?"
Kuroko glanced at Kagami who was listening on their conversation. "We're going to meet up with Aria-san. We need her help if we want to win against Akashi-kun," He informed.
Dani immediately arched a brow, suddenly forgetting about her internal rant. "What?" She asked. "Why would she help you? Isn't she on Akashi's team?"
The bluenette shook his head. "She had quit from their basketball club." He stated.
Even if she was uncertain with his desicion, Dani managed to nod albeit forcefully. "Okay." She said. "You're excused from practice."
Kuroko nodded and dragged Kagami with him to get their things before they leave while Danielle just eyed the former with a longing look in her eyes.
It was as if the phone call never existed. She thought to herself. Of course, she based that theory according to how Kuroko acted and talked to her. Maybe he was trying to comfort me by getting my hopes up. She added to her thoughts.
"Dani-chan!"
Dani's aura suddenly turned into a murderous one after she hears how her senpai, Hayama Kotarou, called her. She scowled at him. "What now, Hayama?"
It was Hayama's turn to scowl playfully. "How rude!" He chastises jokingly. "Anyway, someone wants to see you! Man, you're awfully famous around the guys here." He informed and added his own reaction with it, wiggling his eyebrows up and down to tease Danielle.
