MIKAYLA’S P.O.V

“Lilly?” Niall squeaks gently, his eyes the size of tennis balls.

“N-nibbler?” My voice cracks.

He nods.

“Oh my god...” I mutter. I rush towards Niall and wrap my arms around him. Immediately, his warm arms are around me and I can’t believe I didn’t remember him. He smells exactly the same. Maybe that’s why I always thought of him as a brother.

Hot tears stream down my face and I can feel my hospital gown damp with tears from Niall as well.

“I didn’t think I’d ever see you again.” Niall wipes his eyes and glances up at me.

“Me neither.” My voice is a hoarse whisper by now.

Niall and I embrace again and I can feel the pure joy running through our bodies.

“I missed you so much.” I cry.

It all comes back to me. His dirty blonde hair and his sparkling blue eyes.

I remember it all....

I woke up sweating and screaming.

“Shh, shh you’ll wake mother. It’s okay!”  His voice instantly calmed me down, but only slightly.

I began to hyperventilate; the dream had been so vivid. Just the thought of him leaving me with mother gave me shivers down my spine, let alone an incredibly vivid dream of it!

“It was just a dream, you’re with me now.”  Nibblers voice was getting deeper now, he was turning 12 in a week and I was already 10 years old.

I pulled my body from the sheets to face him. He slept in a bed on the opposite side of the room.  His hair was bedraggled from sleeping and his blue eyes were half shut. He gently climbed into my bed and sat beside me, stroking my brown hair.

“Nibbler, I had a dream, someone took you away from me. You had to go away for a long time and I was never gonna see you again. It was a real bad dream.” I whimpered.

“Well I’m here, not gone, and I will never be taken away from you.” He soothed.

“Promise you’ll never leave me?” I pouted at him, my brown eyes shimmering with passed tears.

“Promise.”

“Nibbler, Niall. It makes sense now...” I whispered.

“I know,” Niall remarked, “Wait, why is your name Mikayla then if your birth name is Lilly?”

“I hate the name Lilly it annoys me, and brings back memories I really want to forget.” I shrugged.

“Hey Micky?”

“What?”

“This might sound cheesy but I stuffed up last time and I never want to be away from you that long again, so I’m promising you AGAIN that I will never leave you, ever. Welcome to the family little Horan.”

His Irish accent rung in my ears as the medications kicked in and I fell asleep in his arms.
