Goku X Jiren // Obsessed

Ever since Jiren battled Goku in the tournament of power, he had been training really hard. When Goku promised to fight him again, Jiren felt an overwhelming sense of competition. He had felt something that he hadn't felt for a long time.

Weeks, months, years even, passed over him as he spent his time training for this all important battle. He gradually lost all contact with everyone from universe 11 and his friends. Jiren was in the complete wrong state of mind, his temper was becoming shorter than it ever has been and he stopped going out. He never even stopped to think if this battle would even happen. Goku would keep his word, wouldn't he?

Towards the end Jiren gained a new hobby, stalking. When thinking about Goku wasn't enough, watching his every move was the next best thing. He had dedicated a whole room to Goku. He had pictures of him, notes that he made, even a map to pinpoint exact locations. To top it all off, he even made a plan of his daily lifestyle.

Jiren desperately tried to become as much like his beloved rival as he could. Was it just because of them going to fight, or was it something more?

The final days closed in and Jiren woke up, preparing himself for a warm up. He was feeling especially short tempered today. Unfortunately for him, he kicked over a glass of water, making it soak all of the images and writings about Goku. A lot of them smudged and bled onto others. Jiren sighed.

He sat down and put his head in his hands, he rubbed his forehead and took a deep breath. Being haunted by the memories of the past year.

"Goku..." he whispered to himself. After hearing the name so often, it began to sound unfamiliar in a way.

For the minute that he stopped to think, Jiren had been faced with years of realisation. He has just wasted years of his life preparing to battle, that will probably only last so long. He had lost all of his friends, he no longer goes out anymore.

He looked back at what happened to him in the past, and he encountered the same problem. Trying so hard to prove your worthy and winning against a rival, or in his younger selves case, a killer.

He never understood why he was so interested in Goku, Jiren thought that there was something special about him.

"Why?" Jiren shouted, one of the first times he's spoken in years. He stood up, growling. He looked down at the information he had gathered and he couldn't stand it. He punched the floor out of pure rage, creating a crater in it.

And that's when he woke up.

"Nice fightin' ya Jiren." Goku said, holding his hand out to Jiren, who was lying in pain on the floor.

Jiren, who lay there in shock, didn't move.

"Your power is nothing like it was those years back..."

"You know what they say, a Saiyan has no limits!" He cheered, despite being covered in bruises and probably being in pain.

Jiren took Goku's hand, reluctantly standing upright.

"How ya been, Jiren? Your power has increased a great deal." He said still bearing that signature grin.

Jiren felt a sharp pain go straight throughout him. He had done nothing. Jiren was almost brought to tears, however his personality allowed him to hide it. But was that really for the best? In his case, bottling up his true feelings wasn't a good thing.

With Jiren just staring and not responding, Goku was becoming rather concerned. He could tell something was wrong.

"Jiren?" He asked. Still not receiving a response. "You still friends with the guys I seen in the tournament?"

That was the sentence that made Jiren snap. He collapsed onto his knees, gasping for breath.

"Jiren!" Goku yelled, throwing himself out to try and catch him. Jiren dodged and looked a worried Goku in the eyes. "What's the matter with you!?"

There was nothing that Jiren could tell him, he just couldn't.

"Goku...I haven't seen them in years." His voice was harsh and course.

Goku's expression went from worried to sympathising.

"Jiren, our universe is always there if you need support! Don't go on your own! There will always be someone there!"

Jiren calmed down, he had done something he hadn't done in years. Smiled.

"Goku, I thank you. I better get on the right terms with my friends over here first."

Goku smiled and patted Jiren on the head, who wasn't to happy about it.

From there, Jiren's life only got better. He spoke to all of his former friends, and even developed a strong connection with Goku!

They fought again, not long after. And to his delight, Jiren won. He brags to Goku every now and then about it.

With his now new friend Goku, Jiren's desires to know everything about him have subsided. After winning to him Jiren learned that he, himself, was a very important individual on his own. And therefore didn't need to be like anyone else to be liked.

He could never shake why he became obsessed with Goku, he did learn that feelings are, and always will be more powerful than strength alone.
