chapter Two

Marley pov

What was taking them so long? It was already the end of the day and I was wating at the doors for them to show up. But they didn't. Instead, I started walking after about 3 minutes to find them (kate and malikai) already ahead of me, talking.

"Hey kate!" I shouted . No reply. They were a little bit ahead of me, so I tried to squeeze through the other people as quickly as possible. When I looked up, they were gone. As I spotted my car, I began running towards it. Clunk. H

"Hey marley, how was school?" My mom asked.

"Mom, I'm not a little third grader, you don't have to ask me that every time i get in the car." I responded responded angrily. I don't even know why i was mad, but I was. The vibe I was getting from Kate and Malikai told me that something was up.

(Malikai pov.)

I always loved the way Kate looked at me. Her amber-brown eyes always gave away her thoughts.
Right now she was thinking about donuts, and I could tell because she was staring at her shirt ( a white shirt with a pink donut on it) and then her stomache grumbled.

"Kate, your stomache is talking." I joked. "I can't understand it though" she admitted.

"It's saying 'Kate come with Malikai to the cafe and feed me donuts'." She giggled a bit.

"Hey how did you know I was thinking about donuts?" She asked.

"A magician never shares his secrets." We kept on walking. This time my stomache growled. I put my hand behind my head and smiled.

"My stomache wants to go to the cafe too." Kate stood in thought for a bit. Then, she pulled out her phone. "Let me text my mom so she doesn't get worried."

She typed a bit and put her phone back in her backpack. Then, we changed course and started walking to the cafe. Kate walked slowly, (unless shes crossing a road) and kept a smile on her face all day. Either she couldn't stop smiling, or she just didn't want things to be awkward.

"So... your very happy I presume" I knew I shouldn't have said That, but I did. Kate realized immediately what u was talking about.

"Oh, sorry,I'm just trying not to look sad" she let her smile fade away. "Are you sad?" This was getting really awkward. "No not really, just alot going on that's all" she smiled with a real smile this time.

Chapter five (Kate pov.)

After walking for what seemed like an eternity, we entered the cafe'. Me and malikai talked about normal things, like how he and his family were doing.

when we had finished eating we went outside and talked some more. Then, like he did earlier today, he looked into my eyes, serious this time.

Malikai pov.

I stared at Kate intensly. Every thought going through my mind. I remembered kalie, a blonde haired girl on our sports team, and how I wish I could talk to her for once.

Bringing my mind back to Kate, I remembered all the great times I had with her and Marley. Then, without thinking I lifted Kate's chin and kissed her. Her body jumped, but she kept herself close to me. I closed my eyes, her

I felt tremendously awkward but I pressed my lips to hers anyway. As crazy as the event was, she kissed me back.

With the silent approval from kate, I hugged her and realized just how much she had been waiting for that. So, silently we began to walk away.

As we walked, a black van pulled up to a bench. The women sitting on the bench read a rose gold colored book clutched in her small hands. She looked to be 14 or 15 though.

As we neared the bench, I heared a small cry for help. I ran to the bench to see what was wrong, but the girl was gone. The van then started it's engine and drove away.

"What was that?!" Kate yelled after me. "I don't know..." I panted. Kate stared in horror. Just then, I realized who the girl on the bench was. Kate's voice rose in panic

"No.. that was.. MARLEY!"
