Kate and Malikai were lying on the ground, and I was dying from exhaustion.

I pulled out my sketch book and drew a little as I saw Malikai say something to Kate that made her blush and stand up. She pointed at me and came over, still huffing a little. "Marley you okay?" Malikai asked me.

"Yeah I'm fine, I'm just not very athletic." We all laughed as they sat down next to me. However, they
seemed to be troubled,
and I wondered if it had something to do with their complaints about phillieas.

It was already 2nd period, and the nasty rumor about what happened to Kylie had gotten really bad.

"She was taken by some gangsters and sent to Cuba as a slave but was trampled by lions!" A freshman shreiked. That was the most ridiculous one so far.

"I heard her dad was a kidnapper and kidnapped her then fed her to some lions!" That was the most realistic rumor. But why lions? The bell rang as we all headed to lunch.

"Anything exciting going on?" Megan asked Kate.

"Uh, a date tonight" she responded.

"Ooh! Where to?" Kate replied saying

"we are going to see the movie Warriors." Megan looked at her questionably

"you mean that movie about cats and clans? Who would even watch that?"

"I read 28 of the books in 6th grade, and I loved them all!" Kate responded, smiling proudly.

"Wow. Okay, but don't spoil anything" Malikai said, walking up to us. He sat down next to Kate and began chatting with her and Megan. This was the first time I had felt alone. Standing up, I headed to the office to see if bree was on her break.

Today seemed like it was thirty minutes long. School had ended, and I found myself talking to bella about oxygen and trees. "Global warming causes the fires" she concluded, after trying to figure out an answer for about five minutes.

"Hm. That would make sense" I agreed. We ended on the subject of how MPHEC was a reasonable solitude, what ever that meant. Bella always talked scienc-y. Waving goodbye, I walked a little further till I got home. Wondering how everyone else was, I laid down on my bed. That was when he texted me.

Phillieas pov

I texted Marley at 9:45, about where to meet me and when, hoping she wasn't asleep.

This was our last chance to get her before anything happened. Finding the key, I unlocked a cell.

Grabbing my shirt cuff with an out stretched hand, masacer lifted me up, his eyes blazing.

"Where is she!?" He scolded.

"I hav-have to g-et her still" I choked, feeling my throat close from being held this way.

"Let me down sir- p-please" staring at me angrily, he threw me onto the ground.

The force of the fall knocked the wind out of me, so I laid there blankly, my forehead bleeding. He stepped out of his cell, and grabbed me by my hair, dragging me across the floor.

In the corner of my eye, I saw a room "mental institution 17 or under" I read to myself. Kaylie must be in there. Why wasn't massacre trying to save her? Did he not care for her at all? I hated that I knew the answer to both questions.

masacer didn't care about her, and he didn't care to save her from any kind of danger she might be in. Sighing, I realized he had put me down. I turned on my phone to see if Marley had texted me back.
Standing up, he grabbed the phone from my hand and dialed.

"What are you doing?" I asked, struggling to go stand to my feet

"Calling an uber" his voice was cold and in deep, rasp, breaths. A dark grey van pulled up to the curb, and we hopped in.

"Hey kid, I'm Bryan. You look hurt, here, let me give you a bandaid" the driver looked through the mirror at me as I closed the door.

"You look fimalliar, do I know you?" He asked. Thinking about it, i realized he was Kate's dad. Kate and marley's dad both had the same name.

"Yeah, I'm phile-" masacer put his hand over my mouth.

"Don't speak of yourself to this person" he whispered. Not noticing what masacer had just done, Bryan went on

"hmm. Well can I ask why your out so late phile" I almost laughed.

"No. It's personal" masacer answered for me, glaring as we headed past a few stores. I asked to be dropped of at a small convenient store near the mall.

Telling masacer to meet me tomorrow, I grabbed my phone and stepped out, closing the door behind me. The van started again and they drove away.

"Tomorrow the whole city will know of masacer's escape. I must make sure they never find anything to trace back to me" I whispered to myself. Walking along side of the store, I headed up a small hill to a corner of the store's back wall.

"New message from marley" my phone dinged. Turning it on, I read her text

"will be there in five minutes. Don't try anything funny." I smiled a bit. She was all I had left to make me happy. Ever since my parents had my younger sister, I was outcasted. It didn't help I was never good in school so I was only scolded when noticed. But Marley.... She acknowledged my talent and abilities, and all I wanted for her was safety.

Then I found masacer trying to kidnap my younger sister, so full of anger, I helped him and ran away, living in some kind folks cramped apartment. But masacer found me and convinced me I was supposed to follow and help him.

Now here I was, luring my best friend to her nightmare. Trying to convince myself, I mumbled "He won't hurt her, he promised me I can be with her" I smiled a conspiring grin, soon I would be with her, and nothing would get in my way of that.
