"Misty!!" Ms.Parker called me down from my room.

I came walking down the stairs in a pale blue dress that matched my eyes. One of the many things I was given by one of my sponsors.

"Misty I have people coming over to discuss a few scholarships for you." She said happily clasping her hands against her chest. "But I need you to watch the younger girls for me, can you do that for me?"

Most girls got adopted before they got to old, unfortunately for me, I was the only girl to be considered as a permenant orphan.

I'm 16 year olds and a senior in high school. I was exceptionally smart, skipping 2 grades. I took all the AP and Honors classes my school provided. My only high school activity consisted of doing cheer. My body was built for it, or so my coach says. My reflexes were on point and I was extremely flexible. However, being a cheerleader didn't make me anymore popular. If anything me being a cheerleader had the opposite affect.  My lack of friends made all my free time go towards studying.

Since it was a Sunday afternoon of course I would be home.

"Sure no problem. I'll see if any of the girls want to watch Frozen. I'll put some pizzas in the oven too."

"Thanks, honey."

Even though the girls in the orphanage didn't tease me anymore the new girls still avoided me. I knew that even if I suggested it the girls wouldn't refuse if I suggest watching frozen and eating pizza.

"Misty, can you come here please."

I walked toward Ms.Parker who was with 3 men all dressed in professional looking business suites at the front door.

They turned to look at me when I got closer.

"Hello Ms.Green, its a pleasure to finally meet you." The oldest of the men said, raising his hand for a hand shake which I took. "Im Justin Clark."

Even though they didn't offer I extended my hand to the other men as well. Trying my best to be polite. Though they didn't introduce themselves like the older man did.

"Misty these men are long time sponsors to my charities. They've agreed to place a college scholarship for you, one in cheer and another for your academic accomplishments."

"Thank you very much, I promise it won't go to waste."

"No I'm sure it won't, honestly it didn't take much convincing, Karen here brags about you quite often. You're grades are exceptional I'm sure you'll amount to great things."

His words made me blush, I wasn't use to compliments.

"Is it so wrong to be proud of one of my girls?" Ms.Parker jokingly said.

After a few more polite words the three men left. The older man Mr.Clark got into the back of the large BMW SUV. The other two sat in the driver and passenger seat. With my hearing I could hear Mr.Clark tell the other two I was cute before they drove off. My face instantly turned pink, I've never been called cute before.

Cute? Misty we're beautiful. I tell you this all the time. But you know what's even more cute, a girl with confidence.

I blocked the voice out after she finished her rant. Honestly I didn't like to but I didn't like the looks I got from the other girls when my eyes clouded over whenever I would respond back to her in public.

I walked towards the kitchen were Ms.Parker was.

"So isn't tomorrow the start of home coming weekend?" She asked.

"Yeah it is." I regretted saying because I knew what she was going to ask next.

"So then has anyone asked you to the homecoming dance yet?"

Ugh.. I really didn't like to answer these type of questions.

"No, not yet."

"You know when I was in High School, it was pretty cool of a girl to ask the guy out first."

I almost chocked on the left over pizza  I picked up to eat.

Clearing my throat, "No I'm not that type of girl. Anyways it's not the end of the world if I'm not asked."

"That's right, there's no shame in going stag."

"Yeah" I seriously thought before saying,"maybe I'll consider going this time."

"Oh do you really mean that?" She said jumping up and down. Even though she wasn't so young anymore she truly was a kid at heart.

"Maybe I should call Justin back, so he can sponsor you a dress."

"You don't have to do that." Even though I was grateful for her thinking so much for me I didn't want her to overextend Mr.Clarks generosity.

After calming her down a bit I agreed to letting her look for a dress for me to wear to the Homecoming dance. She told me that since it was my senior year I should attend at least one dance. She even pushed it further to me attending Prom. Saying you never know who I can meet within a year. But I just told her we should see how homecoming goes first. You never know it could be one of those Carrie moments and I could get pigs blood splashed all over me.

Though honestly it wasn't so much for her, I truly did want to at least experience a bit of High School life.

I told her I still had a AP U.S. History paper I still had to edit. And walked up the stairs to my private room on the third floor. It had it's own bathroom and walk in closet. Something one of my sponsors thought was necessary for me since I was getting older.

It was still pretty early but after finishing the editing of my paper I decided to take a shower to calm my nerves down a bit. Even though the homecoming dance was still a few days away, I was starting to get anxiety because for all I knew it truly could turn out to be a Carrie moment.
