"Hey Jess how's it goin?!" He grinned opening his arms for a hug. I hugged back and saw four other guys behind him. He saw the direction I was looking in and called them over.
" Guys this is Jessica, Jessica this is Zion, Austin, Edwin, and Nick," pointing to each person. It must be some weird deja vu because I swear I've seen them before.
" Nice to meet y'all," I waved slightly.
" You too so how do y'all know each other again?" Austin asked looking at both of us. I looked at Brandon then back at Austin, " oh we met on the plane here actually, we sat next to each other"
" Wait you never told me why you're here though" Brandon said turning back to me. I guess I forgot too earlier i don't even think it came up in conversation but oh well now.
" I'm staying at that beach house for the summer to house sit for my aunt" I replied pointing at the house. The guys facial expression all got a little more excited after I said that oddly.
"What why are y'all smiling like that?" I asked raising a eyebrow. The sound of the waves crashing onto the shore in the background were just so calming. Nick walked toward me putting his arm around my should with a big smirk on his face.
"Hi there neighbor"
" uhhh what?" I lowered my shoulder so his arm fell off he made a pouty face when I did but I was still confused kinda.
" yeah that house literally right next door is ours for the summer," Brandon pointed to the white 2 story beach house. It's did look hella nice I won't lie.
"Sweeeeet. Well when can I see it?" I asked looking at all of them but only Zion answered.
"When we can see yours,"
"Yea it looks like a mansion," Zion butted in
"So can we go?" Austin asked while pointing at the way to the house.
" yea then yours after," I said leading the way they all nodded. I noticed Brandon was last to follow but he was staring at his phone more than anything. He had a confused expression on his face , squinting at the phone. All the guys were looking and awwing at the backyard, I mean I was too when I first saw it too. The giant pool and pool house and the plants with the rock wall it's just breathtaking.
"Alright and this is the living room," I said opening the back door. Of course the same ooohhs and awws they said as the glanced around. I showed them the first floor which had the living room , kitchen, dinning room, then the second one which had all the bedrooms which were 5 to be exact. And then the basement which was one big game room/movie theatre. Aunt Marla had it all of course. I mean I'm obviously not complaining neither are they.
"Alright now can we go to y'alls?" I begged. I'm just curious for some reason I always wanna see other people's homes and how their everyday set up is. Weird I know.
" right this way," Austin led happily skipping up the stairs. He seems like a very giddy kind of person. Zion was doing a bunch of random dance moves here and there around the house with nick. Which actually was very amusing because it was just out of no where. Edwin was acting as if he was on cloud 9 when he saw the sizes of the closets. Brandon was in his own little world on his phone looking us every now and then when we entered each room, seemed to be in very deep conversation with someone. Oh well.
We came up to the front door and I'm already in shock at how beautiful it was. I guess I had my mouth open because Austin had pushed my chin up smiling shaking his head opening the door.
" Ahhhhh mi casa!" Zion shouted throwing his hands up spinning in the living room. Which had a amazing set up by the way. Brandon huffed throwing himself across the couch.
"Bruh what is it? How could you possibly be aggravated with this view?" Nick called out from the windows that ran all the way to the ceiling. Resembled Aunt Marla's house sort of.
"Nothin just an argument with Charlotte that's all." He answered it looking up from his phone. He sat up and tossed his phone to the side. Damn who ever it is, is seriously causing him some pain. He got up looking around the room with the rest of us.
"Ayyyyye check this out!" Edwin hollered across the room with a remote in his hand. He pressed one button that sent down a big projector screen on the wall. Brandon an nicks eyes got huge.
"Sweeeet you know how fortnite is gonna look on that?!" Zion yelled. Boys will be boys. I chuckled looking back at the amazing view of the pool over looking the ocean. This right here is such a great feeling friends and good vibes. I walked over to the glass door to the back yard, hearing the waves crashing in the distance was so calming. I sat next to the pool and dipped my legs in. It was slight cold but relaxing with the sun on my shoulders.
"Nice isn't it?" Someone muttered behind me. Brandon took a seat next to me not putting his legs in the water but you could still tell he wasn't really having it. I pushed my sunglasses down to my eyes since the sun was so bright.
"Alright what is it because you're killing my vibe," I asked looking at him while I kicked my feet back an forth in the water.
" I don't know, she saw a picture from somewhere of me and you talking when we were leaving the terminals at the airport and thought it was something serious." He said letting out a big sigh right after. I could tell that wasn't the only thing on his mind but it was definitely the tip of the iceberg.
" weird but look at this you're in a remote private neighborhood with a bunch of friends focusing on having fun for the summer and you did nothing wrong you know that and if she doesn't believe you it's not you're fault," I pointed out I mean I'm guessing it's his girlfriend and that's the situation. Not really knowing what to say but that's the best i could think of at the moment. I haven't had a boyfriend in two years but that doesn't hold me back.
" yea I guess you're right" he looked in the pool before putting his legs in relaxing a bit more.
" so I'm guessing it's yours girlfriend we're talking about right?" I asked kinda softly looking his way pulling my sunglasses down. He smiled and laughed a little before nodding.
" yep going on a year," he answered looking towards the ocean then back at me. " what about you? Any guy?"
" Nope. Not this gal." I chipped back smiling. He looked kinda confused but still smiling. " well why not?"
" umm I don't know never the right time I guess." Not entirely true the last boyfriend I had cheated on me and humiliated me in front the entire school but that was sophomore year. Ever since then I've just kept to myself. I guess I zoned out for a second because Brandon started waving his hand in-front my face. I grabbed it and threw his hand to his side.
" Yes?" I asked looking at him. He had a sarcastic hurt face but I knew he was joking.
"You know what just for that.." he cupped his hand and put it in the water , knowing where this was going I pulled my legs up out the water and jumped up to run which only caused my back to get wet.
"Really brandon?!" I screeched turning around. I bent over to throw water back which wasn't my smartest idea since the fact that when he threw water at me he got the pavement wet to which my foot slipped and I was then submerged in water. I could hear him yelling my name from above. I waved my arms around to get to the top, my eyes shut tight. Seriously picked the wrong day to not wear a bathing suit. When I came up all the boys were circled around the edge. I swam over to them, my eyes connected to a certain pair of glasses with his hand held out for me. I reached out to him and smiled. I could hear the worries in his voice.
"Jess holy shit are you okay!? Can you breathe?! Jess I'm so sorr- waaooh—" I yanked his hand hard causing him to fall in as well. It's a good thing we left our phones in the living room. He threw his hands dramatically on the side of the ledge when he came back up giving me the death stare as I crack up laughing.
"Pay back!" I yelled between laughs. I just couldn't contain it and neither could he because he smiled an started laughing too.
" Look out below!" All you saw was Austin and Zion collide into the pool together making one giant splash. We all laughed at each other. Nick found the stereo and started playing music. And Edwin came in after he went change into swim trunks because he said and I quote, " I am not getting in with my gucci belt gotta blast!" Then came back 10 minutes later. Zion found pool noodles and Austin was trying to blow up some big pizza floatie while me and Brandon were doing hand stands. We must have been in the pool for 2 hours because the sun was setting. I swam over to the edge of the pool brandon following.
"Wow that's amazing " I whispered looking over at the sunset on the beach. It was the perfect blend of pink and orange where the blue water met it was breathe taking. I could see Brandon look at me in the corner of my eye and look in the direction I was looking in as well.
"Yeah amazing," he breathed.
