Chpt. 4

As soon as I got in the house I went the kitchen and filled up Rocky's food bowl. I made my way up stairs to the master bathroom and turned on the shower. I stuck my hand in to see if the water was just right. I stripped of my pjs and hopped in. When I finished washing my hair, body, and shaved my legs bc honestly ya girl was feelin like a cactus. I turned the water off and dried off. I rubbed some lotion on while I was looking for a song to play while I was getting ready. "Smooth"- by forever in your mind came on which I was dancing too as I started putting my make up on which wasn't a lot just some foundation,  blush,and eyeliner. After all that I decided on just a dark gray tank top with white jean shorts, and a gray sweater around my waist in case I get cold which is often. Just added a few necklaces and a white hat to top it all off. I slipped on some white sandals and turned off the bathroom light. As I made my way down stairs I noticed rocky was laying in his dog bed napping. I grabbed my wallet and phone and was out the door. The grass brushed up my feet as I crossed into their front yard until I got to the stair case to go up to the front door. I texted Brandon I was there but I still knocked.
" heyyyyy jess!" The door flung open to a very excited Austin. " Brandon will be out in a sec and our driver will be here in a minute," he mumbled looking at his phone.  Driver? What?
" he means Uber," Brandon interrupted coming down the stairs.
" yeah that's what I meant!" Austin giggled, kinda nervously. Nothing that funny about a uber driver but okay maybe it's a inside joke.
" okay our rides here let's go," Brandon said looking up from his phone as a black suv pulled up to the front of the driveway.
I followed Austin with Brandon behind me.
Austin got in the front and Brandon and I got in the back. It only took a couple minutes to get there, it was such a cute little coffee house. It was classic yet modern at the same time. The sweet smell of coffee burst through our noses when Austin opened the door.
" what do y'all want I'll go order while y'all get the table?" Austin turned to us waiting for our answer.
" uh get me a caramel Frappuccino bro," Brandon said squinted at the menu.
" and same thing but with extra caramel for me," I smiled looking up at Austin. He nodded then turned to go wait in line. We found a table in the back corner by the window. I was looking at some Instagram posts when I could feel someone's eyes on me. I knew it was Brandon but I didn't really care enough to say anything.
" jess?" Brandon said still starring.
" hmm?" I mumbled still looking at my phone.
" wacha doin?" He asked, I could sense him getting weirdly nosey.
" just Instagram," I replied looking up raising an eyebrow. I know he could clearly see what I was doing he was sitting right across from me.
" cool cool," he replied looking around awkwardly. Dude seriously what is this.
" okay what is it?" I asked.
" what do you mean?" He looked confused but I wasn't having it.
" why are you being nosey?"  I put my hands under my chin still looking dead at him.
" I'm not I was just wondering, but um you look nice by the way," he pointed at my necklace.
" um thanks so do you," that was such a dumb thing I could've said something else but oh well. Austin came up to the table and handed us our drinks.
" thanks for paying Austin," I smiled taking a sip.
" I didn't pay for it," he laughed but instantly shut up when he looked a Brandon who had a mad look on his face.
" B-because we took Zion's credit card!" He quickly corrected himself.
" y-yeah because he took his wallet by accident and he noticed in the Uber when it was to late!" Brandon chimed in. Okay it's getting too weird like a cover up. But I really just wanna enjoy this coffee and the coffee house vibes are nice so I'm not even gonna get into this. I just shrug and look out the window again. I felt the table shake oddly. Brandon picked up my phone and handed it too me saying my mom was calling.
" hello?" I answered.
" hey sweetie how's Cali?" I could hear her smiling.
" it's really great so far mom I'm at a coffee house right now," I answered back looking around the place. Brandon and Austin were both playing on their phones but I knew they were listening to the call.
" that's really great sweetie so the reason why I'm calling is something came up at work and I have to fly out to North Carolina with my boss for a couple weeks and I talked to your aunt already and we both think it would be best if Jenna came to stay with you until I get back, you think you can handle that?" She asked, I could tell she felt kinda in uneasy about it but I don't mind it at all.
" yeah I can do that, when would she get here?" I asked fiddling with my frappe.
" so we looked at flights and I could have her there by 3:00pm,"  she responded, it's only 9:30am so that's good.
" okay gotcha," I looked up seeing Brandon whispering in Austin's ear.
" okay aunt Marla said her driver Mitch will drop her off around 3:30pm  okay?" She replied.
" okay sounds good I'll be there, by mom love you," I answered.
" okay love you jess!" She said before she hung up.
I put the phone down seeing them both starring at me waiting for answers. I took another sip of my frappe which was melting by the minute.
" well?" Austin asked waiting for me to say.
" well, my mom has to go out of state for work and she thinks it'd be best for my little sister to come stay with my until she gets back." I answered him playing with the straw of my drink.
"How old is she?" Brandon asked curiously.
" 15, she gets here at 3:00 so" I looked back at them. Austin nodded and Brandon said something along the lines of we got time. I kinda spaced out for a second. The guys were talking about something on their phone.
" no this ainnnnnn't healthyy-" I heard come out of the speakers of the coffee shop. They've been playing songs but nothing's caught my attention like this.
" ugh this song is so good!" I started smiling looking up at the ceiling and snapping my fingers to the beat. The boys both concentrated trying to hear what the song was. They both smiled at first then looked at each other with a scare shocked expression. Okay weird. I didn't even care this song was giving me such good vibes I wonder who sings it, it sounds like more than one person.
" okay I need to know what it is!" I shouted going to pick up my phone to search it. Austin and Brandon both stood up so quick they hit the table making a loud noise echoing the shop. Austin grabbed my phone off the table and shouted "SELFIE TIME!" Before switching the camera open and pointing it at us. He took more than one and took his time doing so.
" come on I'm trying to find out what song this is!" I reached out to grab my phone but he yanked it further and Brandon posed putting his hand up in a piece sign blocking my from getting it.
" no I look ugly we need a couple more!" He said dramatically as if he cared that much about a selfie. The song faded out to the end. And I sat down with being annoyed that I can't look it up now because it's over.
" okay I think I finally got it jess! Jess?" Austin turned around because he couldn't see me in the screen anymore. He put my phone on the table and looked at Brandon. I sighed looking back down at my coffee. It just kinda sucked because I love finding new music and I couldn't this time.
" I'm sorry jess, I just got carried away,I just wanted the perfect selfie,"Austin looked at me with sad eyes. Brandon started to laugh, I rolled my eyes, but it turned into choking because he was drinking his drink at the moment, Austin patted him on the back.
" it's okay we should probably go anyway it's 10:30 already," I mumbled grabbing my  wallet.
" we still have time to waste wanna walk around the area? They got some shops around we can just go look around..?" Brandon asked looking kinda sympathetic.  Well there's nothing better to do.
" yeah we could do that," I responded as we all headed to the door.
   We walked all over for the past two hours. Stopped at Pacsun, Vans, forever 21, Spencer's, which we are never going back to because the boys could not be serious for one second and Austin found dirty toys to play with and ended up having a fake Weiner suctioned to his forehead. We decided to go home and hangout at their house to til Jenna gets here which is in about 3 hours.  We arrived at the house, Brandon opened the door for me, as we went in all the boys were doing separate things. Edwin was making pizza rolls, Zion was playing video games, and nick was sitting out by the pool. Austin joined Edwin in the kitchen, Brandon was looking at something on his phone walking towards Zion so I followed.
" hey Z, sorry about your credit card I'll pay you back later," I said walking up to Zion, sitting  on the arm rest of the chair he was in. He laughed and look at me in confusion.
" what are you talking about? I don't even have a- DUDE! Watch out! You're gonna get us both killed!" He cut off yelling at the player on the headset. Wait what?
" jess come up stairs," Brandon yelled from the stairs. I'm so coming back to this later. I followed Brandon up the stairs to which I guess is his room. It had yellow lights around the top, one huge bean bag, a tv well an other standard room thing plus a few posters.
" nice room ," I said circling around looking at everything. He looked back somewhat smiling.
" thanks I was going for a very chill vibe kinda set up," he replied which I see how because it does give off that feeling in here.
" yeah so what are we doing in here?" I asked looking at him, he grabbed the remote from the tv as I plopped on the bed on my stomach.
" I thought we could watch a movie or something," he turned to look at me as he pulled up Netflix on the screen.
" how about stranger things," he asked walking towards the bed next to me.
" yeah that's good! season 2?" I asked I mean I already seen the first one last night and I've been meaning to see season 2 it's just so addictive.
" yea that's what I was gonna put on," he said pressing play. He laid next to me, it kinda felt awkward at first but then I got lost into the show and didn't really notice anymore. I felt him put his arm around me and i scooted closer, something about the moment just felt kind of right. Maybe it's just the room and it's "vibes". All I know is it's been a while since I felt this warm feeling in my chest. I laid my head on his chest which worked out in our height difference. He slowly rubbed shapes across my back which is a big weakness for me because I always fall asleep so easily to that. I felt a smile creep upon my lips just before I closed my eyes.
     "Jess, Jess, come on jess you gotta wake up," I could faintly hear Brandon sort of whisper in my ear. I wanted to open my eyes but I'm just so comfortable.
   " no leave me be," I mumbled into his chest. Why is he so comfortable it's making it that much harder to move.
" don't make me do it," he whispered in a teasing way. I honestly don't care I don't think I'm moving, he'll have to move me.
" okay you asked for it..." was all I heard before a wet finger went in my ear. I jumped up all too quickly because the next thing I knew I was face first on the ground. My whole body erupted in pain but I still didn't move I just laid there for a second. I could hear Brandon losing his shit on the bed, cackling away.
" ouch." Is all I managed to get out. I heard him move around in the bed. He picked me up off the ground until I was standing between his legs as he sat on the bed. He finally stopped laughing, he brought his hands up to my face moving the hair out of my face slowly, smiling softly. His face got close to mine as he stood up slowly.
" I'm sorry jess," he pulled my face close to his and pressed his lips to my forehead. He put his arms around my neck and I put mine around his waist.
" I gotta go," I mumbled into his chest. I saw the alarm clock in his room had said 3:15. I figured I should go now to be there when Jenna arrives.
" why?" He asked softly still holding me. He hasn't let go since.
" my sister will be home in 15 minutes," I responded looking up at him. I could feel my stomach turning like I was nervous but not at the same time. It felt like I was looking at him with a new pair of eyes myself. Like I was seeing him differently.
"So you're saying you have to leave in 10 minutes because you do live literally next door," he smirked, that's cute trying to get me to stay longer but I really shouldn't. I laughed a little looking back down. He put his hand under my chin making me look back up at him. Geez what is he doing to me.
  " please stay," he whispered. I could feel gravity pulling our faces closer and closer but nows not the time. I grabbed his hand from out under my chin slowly intertwining it with mine very slowly. As we got closer I brought my face up past his and to his ear.
   " not yet," I whispered in his ear, I felt his body tense up in my arms as goosebumps arose on his arms. I pulled out of his grasp and winked at him before turning around an walking out of the room.
