Chapter 8

Logan's P.O.V.

"What is that Logan?"

I blink a few times until I can see my Mom clearly. There's a stack of newspaper beside me so I guess she just threw it to me. I take the newspaper in my hand and look at the front page to see me and selena holding hands at the mall. I know this is gonna happen.

"Quickly get ready and meet me in the dining room," my mom says, "we need to talk."

She leaves the room and i continue to stare at the front page of the newspaper. Scandal. I read the headline: "Selena Dumps Justin for Logan?!" I quickly throw the newspaper away. I feel the heat on my cheeks. The media doesn't know anything about us, and they judge us like that. Justin is the bad guy here, and with just a picture everyone thinks the other way round. I feel sorry and mad at the same time.

I brush my teeth and take a shower. I put on my casual white shirt and a pair of jeans, and then i go downstairs. I see my mom sitting in the middle of the room, staring at the the table. I can see emptyness in her eyes. It takes a few moment for her to realize that i'm there as she finally gestures her hand signalling me to sit there beside her. There's a plate with eggs and sausages which is probably my breakfast.

I sit beside her and start to eat the eggs. This is super awkward and I really hate awkward moments. But I stay quite and continue munching on my sausages. I love them. Taste like heaven.

"Can you tell me what the hell is going on?" my mom asks, breaking the awkward moment. I stop filling my mouth with the sausages and quickly chew and swallow the food in my mouth. "What what is going on?" I ask her back.

"Don't act stupid, you know what I mean," my mom says. I take the last sausage on my plate and munch on them. My eyes don't leave the plate. I just don't want to have eye contact with her right now. After I swallow the sausage I finally explain her about yesterday.

"What were you thinking?" she asks furiously. "Don't tell me you don't expect these things to happen, I'm not taking that as a reason." She stands up from her seat and reaches for my empty plate. I just look at her as she walks to the sink and put the plate there.

"I just want to be a normal person once," I mumble, but loud enough for her to hear. "I want to have freedom, at least once."

"well you had your freedom already," she turns to face me back and sighs. "God I just don't understand. All these years of being an actor and you still do something careless like that? And Selena too. What the hell is with her? You both know she's one of those most-talked celebs and she still went into that goddamn mall, moreover, holding hands with a boy, another actor exactly? She's crazy."

"She's not," I say, defending Selena. She did nothing wrong. She just wanted to go shopping. Every girl loves shopping. "She just wanted to go shopping."

"She doesn't need to shop in that crowded mall," she says, "she doesnt need to shop with you." Her voice was sharp and cold, as if she has ice in her throat. She's always like this when she's mad, and I am supposed to be used to it, but not this time. I feel the heat all over my body, as if there's a fire burning inside me.

"It's not her fault," I try to control my temper, "it's our fault." She just can't blame all of this to her, I mean we both held each other's hands, we both are on the front page, they shouldn't blame it all on her. It's not fair, it will never be. "Don't blame it all on her. And stop judging her like that."

"Like what? With that kind of attitude-" she never has the chance to finish her sentence as I cut her off immediately.

"What kind of attitude? wanting-to-go-shopping kind of attitude? SHE'S JUST A FUCKING GIRL WHO HAPPENS TO BE FAMOUS! SHE'S A HUMAN BEING, I'M A HUMAN BEING, WE MAKE MISTAKES! Stop judging her like that, you know nothing," I stop to catch my breath before I continue, "look Mom, i know what we did was wrong, it was horrible. It won't happen again next time, I promise."
