Chapter 10

Logan’s P.O.V

“Earth to Logan!”

I quickly look up to see Selena standing beside me. Guess I thought about what Alex has said for too long. Well I just can’t help it. Selena’s eyes are still fixed at me, her face full of disbelief. I quickly apologize for what happened. “Oh um sorry Sel,” I say a little panicly, “what did you say?”

Selena sighs, rolls her eyes, then finally sits beside me. “I asked you if you wanna join us for lunch,” she says slowly, making sure that I get every single word that she says.

“Us?” I ask her back. I mean, who the hell is ‘us’? First Alex has blown my mind up, and now what? Selena answers me quickly, “me, Justin and Charity.” Whoa wait. Justin? Okay this is good. Awesome. Justin is probably the person that I want to see not want to see most at the same time. Like I want to ask him about Selena and at the same time I don’t want to ask him. It’s just complicated man. But it’s not like I can say no to my beautiful princess. But if I say yes that means I’ll meet Justin.

“Soooo, you coming or not?” Selena waves her hand in front of my face, realizing that I’ve gone away again. Super huge thanks to my reflexes, I quickly say yes. Selena smiles then gets up and walk away. “I’m taking my things, wait a minute okay,” her voice fades away as she walks further from me. She probably can’t hear me if I reply “Ok” to her so I just remain silent.

I know when people say a minute they don’t really mean a minute, but it has been like 10 minutes and Selena isn’t here yet. Well, I guess girls are different. I think I’m just gonna wait for her in my car. I take my phone and text her that I’ll wait in my car, then I grab my things and leave.

“Sorry!” Selena rushes in, panting, “I’m so sorry. Can Charity tag along?” I look around to see Charity waving her hand ouside the car. She has her red hair bundled up in a messy bun, and she’s wearing a simple yellow tank top with her usual gray jacket. “Of course,” I say as I signal her to get inside.

“Hey Logan!” She says in a cheerful tone as she gets in. I smile and greet her back, and then we start heading for lunch. Along the way Selena is busy fixing either her hair or makeup, maybe even both at the same time, if that’s possible. Gotta say she’s nervous, just like other girls when they’re meeting their boyfriend. Can’t blame her for that. What can I say? After all the shit, she’s still in love with him.

“So, Selena told me a lot about you, Percy,” a voice from the back calls out. Selena, who’s fixing her makeup, stops suddenly. Charity was playing her phone before, but now her eyes are on me. “She said you’re a nice guy, and a great friend.”

“Well, do you believe her?” I ask her back. Selena remains silent, her eyes still wide. She’s probably waiting for Charity to answer my question, how cute.

“That depends on lunch today,” Charity answers. I chuckle. Selena continues fixing her makeup.

It doesn’t take much longer for us to get to Hooters. At first I thought this is a very bad idea. I mean this will definitely spread new rumors about us. But then Selena told me that that was the purpose. We gotta tell the media that there’s nothing between me and Selena. We’re just friends. Well I hope we’re something more.

Selena gets out of the car as soon as I park the car. She looks like she’s about to do a chemistry test rather than having a lunch with us and Justin. I’m about to get out the car too when Charity grabs my shirt and pull me. “You better be just like what Selena told me. I’m done with jerks breaking her heart like a toy,” she stops awhile, “Oh, I know, Logan. You have feelings for her. I’m not too dumb to not know that. You turn out like that asshole we’re having lunch with, 13 Reasons Why will be your last movie.”
