We're Not Too Far Gone (Rick Grimes)

Chapter 25

I woke up to find Rick wasn't next to me, I could hear voices outside the door though. I picked up my phone and looked at the time, 8:43, 4th June 2014. My birthday.

I quickly got up and found some clothes that were suitable to wear and came out of the bedroom to find everyone except Rick and Beth in the living room.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Everyone shouted when they saw me.

"Awh! Thankyou so much!" I said as i went round and hugged each of them.

"We all have presents for you, but we have a surprise for you later and you'll get them after that, Ricks out getting something for your surprise, so is Beth, but you need to come and stay in my apartment for the day while everyone gets it sorted, Judith and Kara are asleep in there now, so we'll go in a sec, the surprise should be ready at 12, so only 3 hours you have to put up with me" Carl said and winked at me, I ruffled his hair.

"Okay, let me just get my phone and stuff" I said as i walked back into the bedroom and grabbed my phone, iPad and iPod. I walked back out and out the door into Carls apartment next door. I threw my things down on his sofa and looked around.

"Carl do you not clean up in here?" I said pointing to the food wrappers, xbox games and whatever else was on the floor in here.

"Uh, no, i guess not, i dont really have a system for it, any chance you could help me?"

I nodded and started to pick up all the xbox games from off the floor and put them into the games rack, i then started cleaning up the wrappers while Carl sorted his clothes and put them away. I threw the wrappers away. I then sorted his cupboards so all the food was in one, drinks in another and medical supplies in another with a bag underneath incase we needed to make a quick run for it.

"I'm done Carl, everything looks clean now"

"Thankyou Em!"

I picked up my phone and looked at the time, 11:57.

"So my surprise is gonna be ready in 3 minutes ay?"

"Yeah, im just heading down now, you can go back into your apartment now"

"Um, okay, i'll see you down there i guess"

I walked back into my own apartment and into the bedroom, i set my things down on the cabinet and then saw an outfit on the bed, a baby pink crop top and a white skater skirt with a crochet bottom. There was a long necklace, rings, earrings and a bracelet, a pair of white wedged heels and hair curlers. Also a little make up. There was a note next to it that said:

'Get changed into this and be ready for half 12, we are waiting downstairs in the basement, i will  come up at half 12 for you, i hope you like it. - Rick x'

I quickly threw my clothes off and put the new ones on, i put on the jewellry and curled my hair, even when it was curly it still came down to half way down my belly. It was a luxury to curl your hair in an apocalypse im telling you. I then applied a little cream and brown eyeshadow, a thin line of eyeliner, mascara and lipstick, i slipped my heels on and looked at myself in the mirror, I was pleased with how i looked, i thought i looked...well nice. I picked up my phone and saw that it was 12:30, then i heard a knock at the door. I walked out and opened it to reveal Rick in a suit and tie.

"Wow" I said.

"No, your the bloody wow here," He said grabbing my hands and pulling me towards him "You look beautiful" He whispered and i smiled

"Shall we go? I can't wait to see what you've all planned for me!"

He smiled and laced his fingers with mine as we walked downstairs to the basment, he knocked on the door and after about 10 seconds he opened it, it was completely dark until the disco light turned on and everyone jumped out.

"SURPRISE!" Everyone shouted as they jumped out of there hiding places.

Rick looked at me while I smiled and happy tears dripped down my face, he kissed my cheek and let go of my hand so i could hug everyone.

I walked over to everyone hugging them and thanking them, they told me i looked pretty and i just smiled even more. I admit, I do like to be center of attention at times, and since i haven't had anything done for my birthday for four years, i was really loving this.

Beth was behind the bar with a cake on the counter, it was 3 cubes on top of eachother, it said:

'Happy Birthday Emily!' with 24 candles on top

"Make a wish" Beth said to me, i nodded and blew out the candles.

"What did you wish for?" Daryl asked.

"Now if i told you, it won't come true will it" I said and winked

He rolled his eyes at me.

I cut the cake into enough slices for everyone, i ate mine quickly since i hadnt eaten today then walked over to the stereo.

"Now this would not be a Rigg family birthday celebration without loud music and getting absolutely off your face drunk, lets see if any of you can handle it!" I shouted as i turned the music up as loud as it could go. I walked over to the bar and did 25 shots of sourz. Everyone watched as they were drinking their beer or cider or whatever as i downed all these drinks, some had their mouths wide open, not knowing what i was like when it came to birthday parties. After i was completely pissed i started to act like a twat, and i probably was a little too drunk. I grabbed Ricks tie and pulled him into me and kissed him passionately, but roughly. I started to unbutton his shirt and my hands made their way down to his trousers, he pushed me away a little.

"Not now, theres people here" 

I sighed and walked off while he buttoned himself up again and i got another drink, I walked over to Daryl and started to dance with him for a while, by now it was about 6 in the morning and people were starting to go back to their apartments, but from then on, i didnt remember a thing, and thats when i passed out.
