Chapter 38

15 Years Later

Christmas Day

Emilys P.O.V

I sat down on the sofa next to Rick in the early hours of Christmas morning, waiting for the kids and our friends to come over. It seemed like everyone was just dissapearing. Abraham and Rosita had got married, and they moved to Australia. Sasha and Bob got married, and they moved to England, along with Tyreese. Eugene moved to Washington to work on medicine. Tara got a girlfriend, Catarina, and she moved to Italy with her, since Catarina was Italian and she was here on holiday or something. And last year we sadly lost Carol after she had a long battle with a terminal illness, it beat her on the 12th of March last year. It was just Daryl, Maggie, Glenn, Beth and Michonne left, and us and the kids obviously. I understand they have lives, but we never get to see them anymore. 

Rick and I weren't exactly young anymore. He is 57 and i'm 54. We don't have the time or energy to be going and seeing people all the time.

At about 10 I heard a knock on the door and Carl was at the door with his girlfriend, Vicky. She was gorgeous. I invited them in and they went to sit down in our lounge.

All im going to say is, its lucky we have a big front froom, because everyone was bringing their own presents for everyone and the floor was nearly full from just the presents we had got.

Not long afterwards there was another knock at the door and Kara was at the door holding a huge sack of presents.

"Hey Mom!" She said as she came in.

"Are you okay hun?" I asked.

"Yeah thanks, are you?"

"Never been better" I said with a smile.

Before i could even walk away from the door there was another knock. I opened it to see Holly, Jesse, Connor, Megan, Jack and Judith.

I gave each of them a hug and let them go put their presents down in the lounge.

About half an hour later, Daryl, Maggie, Glenn, Beth and Michonne got here. It was 12 by now and we all were sat around with hot chocolate and sweets and tins of chcolates, opening presents around the tree.

We were all practically a huge family.

Then there was another knock on the door, I didnt know who it could be, but when i opened the door i had the shock of my life.

There stood Bob, Sasha, Tyreese, Abraham, Rosita, Eugene, Tara and Catarina with sacks full of presents.

"Oh my god! I missed you all so much!" I said as i hugged each of them.

I let them all through into the lounge and I heard everyone say "Oh my god!" Just like i did.

Everyone was so shocked.

Then we went back to present opening.

I picked up a present. "Vicky this one is for you! from me" I said as i handed her the present.

"Awh thankyou" She said as she took it.

She opened it up and it was basically a box of fake eyelashes and mascara, because i know she absolutely loves her eyeslashes to look amazing.

"You know me to well Emily! Thankyou so much" She said as she came and gave me a hug.

Rick then picked up a present, "Carl, this is for you"

Carl took the present and inside was a 'Zombie Survival Kit' we all found this pretty funny, even the kids that hadnt been born during the apocalypse found it funny.

After a few hours we had finished opening presents. Beth, Maggie, Michonne and Kara were helping me to make the christmas dinner in the kitchen now.

"Its weird to think that it has been 26 years since the apocalypse ended, we're all getting so old!" Michonne said and we all started to laugh.

"Its weirder to think that ive known all of you 30 years! except Kara obviously, ive known you 29."

We all laughed as we cooked and Rick came in.

"What are you all laughing at then?"

"About how weird it is that most of us have known eachother for 30 Years!" Beth said.

"Oh my god we have! Thats so weird to think actually, that means we've been together for 30 years Em!"

"I dont know how the fuck i put up with you that long" I said.

He looked a little hurt.

"Im joking Rick! Its more like i dont know how i would have put up with it if i didnt have you for the last 30 years" I said and kissed him on the lips before getting back to cooking.

"Well technically if you never met me then you wouldnt know..."

"Rick go put a film on and shut up you absolute knob" I said laughing.

He laughed and walked out into the lounge again. 

Soon we were dishing up 22 plates of christmas dinner for everyone.

"Dinners ready!" Maggie shouted and suddenly people were flooding into the kitchen, so i quickly took mine and went to sit down in the lounge.

After we had finished our dessert aswell as the dinner it was around 3 and we were just talking and catching up on everything.

When it got late everyone agreed that they would stay and we would watch movies all night, and then we would all sleep here, we would find a way for it to work.

I sat on the sofa with Ricks arm around me and Daryl next to me. 

We spent the night watching christmas films and eating chocolate.

This is how I wanted things to stay forever. Rick and I, with all of or closest friends and kids with us all of the time.

After what we've been through, this is how things should be.

This is how things are going to be from now on.

Okay so that was the end! I'm thinking of doing another Rick or Daryl fanfic thats a little more realistic because in both of these the relationship has been rushed and ive put unrealistic things in, so i think i will start another one soon:) Thankyou for reading!
