Chapter 25

Nancy p.o.v

I been in L.A for one month already. I have seen my friends again. I haven't spoke to Austin, Robert, Zach, Kailey, nor Eileen. I meet this guy here in L.A. at the mall he is all sweet but he reminds me of Alex. I been trying to let my parents let me stay her in L.A but they keep on saying no. Am going to be leaving L.A today. Right know am finishing packing. When I was all done I got my suit cases and went down stairs. My brother was going to be taking me to the airport. I said my good byes to Janet and Jacy.

Then me and Leon got in his car and drove to the airport. When we got there we said bye and I bored my plane. I put on my headphone and turned on my music. I feel asleep.

When I woke up we were about to land. When we landed I got my stuff and went to find my parents. When I found them we drove home.

-SKIP CAR RIDE-

When I got home my parents helped me with my suit cases. I grabbed the last one and closed the trunk. I grabbed my suit cases and as I was walking to the door I saw Austin walking out of his house. He saw me and he looked all sad and a tear fell down his check.

I walked over to him and asked "Austin are you alright?"

He gave me a hug and I hugged back he then started crying on my shoulder.

"Austin whats wrong?" I asked.

"Nancy it's Alex." he said hesitant.

"Alex? What about Alex?" I was getting worried even though we weren't together anymore.

"He got into a pretty rough accident...." he said trailing off.

"Oh God.. Oh God no. Is he okay?"

"He was out late one night and on his way home he was hit by a sleep deprived Walmart truck driver."

I gasped. I had no words. I was speechless.

He continued "He's in a coma Nancy. He's been out for 36 hours and he still hasn't woken up. No one can wake him up."

I was literally on the verge of tears hearing this. I can picture him laying on a hospital bed, pale, and fragile, someone who is usually  so happy and joyful looking sad and drained. Connected to all those tubes. That's what made me loose it. I started to crying.

"Why didn't you call me to tell me?" I asked.

"We didn't want to bother you." he responded.

"Oh well I have to go bye" I said.

"Wait Nancy i'm not finished." he said pausing. I stayed silent signaling for him to continue. "Like I said, no one can wake him up. But the doctor said that if anyone was gonna wake him up it'd probably be the one most important to him. We've tried everyone in Texas so that we wouldn't have to bug you but no one has been able to, not even his mom..." he said trailing off.

"What are you saying Austin?" I asked.

"You're important to him, very important. We think that maybe you can wake him up ya know? So basically we want you to come to the hospital soon. They don't have much faith in him waking up and they're  pulling his plug in 4 weeks." he said.

"Austin I don't am that important to him anymore." I said.

"Please Nancy it's worth a try." he begged.

"Okay I will go. " I said.

"Okay right know visiting hours are up. The next aren't until 6 tonight since he's urgency care right now but all of the group is at Roberts so lets go so you can see everybody." Austin said.

"Okay let me just take this inside." I said.

I went inside and told my mom that I would be home later. I came back out side and got inside Austin's range rover, and drove to Robert's house.

When we got there it was only 4. Two more hours until I can see him.

I then saw that we got to Robert's house. We got out of the car and went up to the door, Austin just walked in like if it was his house I followed behind. We walked into the living room it was silent, everybody looked up and saw me and Austin. I received sad, empty hugs from Robert, Kailey, Eileen, and Zach.

"We all missed you Nancy." Zach said.

"I've missed you guys too." I said. We all smiled fake smiles at each other then fell back into the silence.

"How have you guys been?" I asked to break the silence.

A chorus of good's came from all of them. I knew they wanted to say miserable but who says that? No one. So they said good.

"....That's good." I said awkwardly.

"What have you been up to? Zach asked trying just as hard to end the silence.

"Nothing really." I said.

"Why don't we go out for a late lunch early super? None of us have eaten." Robert suggested.

"Sounds good to me." Kailey said.

We all got in  different cars. Me, Kailey. and Eileen in one, and Robert, Austin, and Zach in the other.

"How are you?" Eileen asked as we pulled out of Roberts driveway.

"I'm good." I said.

"No really Nancy. How ya holding up? I know that your upset." Eileen said.

"I know, I know." I said pausing. "I'm... Not okay. Not at all actually. I just want to wake up in my bed, and for all this to be a nightmare. But it's not. This is real. The pain is real."

"We are sorry Nancy." Eileen said.

That was the end of the conversation. When we got to pizza hut I was not hungry at all. So I decide to eat. But they made me eat one slice of pizza.

I didn't talk either. They tried to include me in their conversation but how can I be happy?

It was now 5:30 we all went outside to our cars to go to the hospital. We all got in and we all drove to the hospital. After a 30 minute drive we got to the hospital.

"Are you ready?" Austin asked as we all got out of the car.

"Yes."

We all went up and by now it was 6:30. Robert softly knocked on the door before opening it and stepping in. I looked around the room and my eyes landed on...
