The next day Jeremy got up early to talk to Michael, the events from last night were still on his mind. He couldn't eat; he was too stressed so he just skipped the breakfast and went straight to Michael's house to pick him up for school. For the entire walk, he was thinking about the situation. He surely didn't imagine the whole conversation, right? At this moment Jeremy had hoped that it all was a dream, a figment of his imagination like he told himself the entire month, but he knew it couldn't be, it felt too real. The SQUIP was back, even if just as the voice in his head but it was back, and this thought terrified Jeremy to no end. He couldn't trust the supercomputer, even if it did seem different. It could have lied to Jeremy, it could all be just a play to manipulate him into reactivating it so it could ruin his life, again. Jeremy was just happy that he won't be alone in this, he still had his friends to help him through it.

Jeremy's P.O.V.

I was lost in my thoughts when I neared Michael's house; I smiled when I saw him in front of his home waving at me and jogged up to him.

"Sup' Jer-bear, how's it hanging?" He said in his usual happy tone as we slowly made our way to school. "You texted me that you wanted to talk. Is something wrong?"

"It's the SQUIP." I replied. "It's back."

This made Michael stop in his tracks, I saw a horrified look on his face.

"What do you mean it's back?!"

"You know how I told you about the voice in my head?"

"Yeah."

"Well, it was it, it talked to me last night. Said something about trying to reach out to me for months."

"What for?"

"Apparently it's sorry and wants to fix things," I replied as we started walking again.

"Bullshit!"

"That's what I said, but apparently it had a glitch or something. That's why it acted like that, or at least it's what it said."

"This motherfucker almost took over the god damn school and abused you to no end and now it comes back and expects you to take it back because of some crappy excuse?!"

"I don't know, I told it I'll think about it."

"What for?! You should have just drunk the mountain dew red and get rid of the thing, who knows what it might do this time!"

"I know Mikey but something about its voice sounded...off. Like it really was sorry."

"Well, I don't believe it."

"We should talk to the rest, then I'll try to decide."

"I don't think there's anything to decide about, just drink the red and be done with it."

"Maybe you're right, but I think they still need to know."

"If you say so."

The entire conversation took us enough time that we were just around the corner from school, we both went our separate ways to our classes. I just can't wait till lunchtime so I can consult the others about the situation, I really need support and advice right now.

The bell rang, it was finally the lunch break. Jeremy nearly sprinted out of his chair and went to the cafeteria, he couldn't really focus on classes that day as he was thinking about the SQUIP the entire time.

Jeremy met Michael by his class and they both made their way into the cafeteria, sitting down at the table with the rest of their squad who were already there, they greeted each other as per usual before they noticed Jeremy's worried look.

"I need help." He said in a nervous tone.

"What's wrong jer-bear?" Brooke asked, worried.

"It's the SQUIP. It's back."

"It's WHAT?!" Rich yelled, slamming fists on the table, it was loud enough to catch few people's attention before he settled down and lowered his tone. "It's what?"

"Yeah, I was shocked as well. It spoke to me last night."

"Apparently it's sorry and wants Jeremy to reactivate it!" Michael said clearly pissed off at this fact.

"Well, if it's really sorry maybe you could talk to it?"

"Are you crazy Brooke, after everything it has done?" Michael almost yelled but kept himself from doing so to not disturb other students around them.

"It could be worth a try," Jake added in.

"Jake, you're crazy too, sit the fuck down."

"I think you're overreacting Michael." Chloe was the next one to give her input. "What's the worst that could happen?"

"What's the worst that could happen?! Have you forgot what happened a year ago?!" Michael replied.

"Yeah, it almost took over the school," Christine said.

"And manipulated Jeremy to use us for his gain," Jenna added, briefly looking up from her phone and putting it down.

"Yeah, that too."

"I said I'm sorry guys..." Jeremy mumbled.

"It's okay Jerm, what's in the past is in the past." Jake patted his shoulder.

"If you say so shouldn't that also apply to the SQUIP?" Brooke asked.

"You guys don't get it." Rich stopped them. "Jeremy and I had our SQUIPs the longest of all of you, you don't get how fucked up and abusive they can get over time. It's a horrible idea to forgive it."

"Well, it is only a voice for now, and I still have that mountain dew red..." Jeremy said unsurely, looking down on his hands as he fidgeted with his fingers.

"You're not telling me you're actually considering it?" Michael looked at him in disbelief.

"I don't know Mikey, you didn't actually hear it... It did sound regretful and...sad. I don't know how to feel about this situation. I think I need some time."

The rest of the group kept arguing about the situation but Jeremy ignored them, drifting off in his own thoughts. Soon the bell ringed again and it was time to return to class, however just like before the lunch Jeremy could not focus on classes. School passed fast for him and soon he was saying goodbye to his friends and heading back home.

He flopped heavily on his bed and sighed, laying there in silence for a while he made his final choice.

Hey, SQUIP? Are you there? He asked unsurely in his thoughts.

Silence. Could it be gone? Did Jeremy imagine all of it? A familiar voice broke Jeremy's train of thought.

Yes, Jeremy, I am here. I was waiting to talk to you.

Well, I think I made my choice.

What is it then?

I can let you stay, but only as a voice, at least for now. I don't trust you fully yet.

Of course, I understand. Thank you.

A 'thank you'? That's new.

I told you, I'm not really like how you remember me.

We'll see about that.

Another chapter is done, I'm being productive today. I think I'll get back to writing, I missed it. This one's a bit longer than the other, then again it was mostly conversations.

Once again, big thank you for my wonderful proofreaders!
