Sam needed space. He didn't ask me, I just knew. He seemed so tired, I watched him trudge around, felt him tossing in the night. He held my hands tighter, like he was afraid I'd let go. I let him be, sometimes leaving the house because I couldn't stand how down he seemed. It was hard to watch, but I knew Sam had to work through whatever it was.
I left for Brennen's for the third time this week. I'd told him about the trouble with Sam and he was sympathetic, saying he knew how that can be sometimes.
"It's driving me insane, Brennen." I shut the door behind me.
He sighed. "Still bad?"
We sat on his couch. "I just want to know what's wrong, to help him out so he's not so..."
A pause.
"Depressed."
Brennen nodded. "You should do what you think will help him."
"I used to think that was leaving him to think, but now I don't know. Could I think its best to talk just cause I want to talk?"
"Well, judging from what you tell me, leaving him alone isn't helping. Maybe it's time to try a new approach."

"I know you know I'm dealing with something right now, Colby. I just don't want to talk about it yet," Sam said after I'd asked.
I nodded, closing my eyes and knowing I couldn't push him. I went upstairs and fell on the bed, pulling out my phone.

Colbear😜🐻: already did. Gave him space too

I stopped for a second. Bella was my friend, shouldn't I tell her?

She didn't respond for a solid 30 seconds and it felt like longer. I was relieved when she sent me a gif saying "This Makes So Much Sense"
