I looked at Bella and I was surprised. She'd never gone off on my gaydar. I smiled at her and kissed her hand. I knew I had liked Bella since I knew I was not into boys.
"Lia, I'm bi-sexual and I am in love with you."
I couldn't hide my smile from her.
"If I were to get on a knee just to ask you to be my girlfriend, would that be too much?"
"I'm happy no matter what."
"Alright then," I said as I pulled her into my lap, "Bella Marie Lancaster, will you be girlfriend?"
"Yes, Lia Alecia Johnson, I'd love to be your girlfriend," she said smiling and giggling.
Everyone in the group clapped and smiled at us, happy we were in love.
"I think you two can be excused. Just stay in the cafeteria until the end of the period."
"Thanks Mr. Duncan," Bella said as she stood and pulled me out into the hallway.
We walked hand in hand to the cafeteria and got in line. It was our lunch period after all. We sat down with Cass and Ellie and they were so confused. Bella had her legs across my lap and was smiling at me.
"Okay," Cass said,"what the fuck is going on between you two?"
"Hey, Lia, you got the new's paper for today?"
I knew what she was doing so I grabbed my news paper and handed it to her. She always in the cross words for me. She opened up to the cross word and took a pen from her bag.
"Hmm. Lia, what is a six letter word that means two people are in a relationship?"
"That would be that they're dating, correct?"
"Ah yes. Wait, Lia aren't you dating someone now?"
"Yeah," I said playing along with her game, "she asked me out earlier. Wait, you're seeing someone now too aren't you?"
"Why yes, yes I am."
"When do we get to meet this lucky guy?"
"Oh it's a girl, and she's right here."
She kissed my cheek, making me blush. Who knew she was such a romantic.
"Wait," Ellie said standing, "you two?"
"Yeah," I said, still blushing, "she told me at the group for LBGT meeting and I asked her after."
We talked a while longer before the bell rang. Bella and I held hands from class to class and on the bus I nearly fell asleep in her lap.
"Lia, you need to stay awake."
"But you're comfy."
"You can sleep at your house dummy."
I sat up and yawned.
"Fine."
We got to my house and worked on homework before going to bed. It was the weekend and so we were having a sleep over. When our phones went off at three in the morning we both knew something was off.
