We both got calls from different people.
Ellie had called Bella telling her that Cass was in the hospital after trying to kill herself.
But my phone call was it bit more close to home. My parents were out that night. They knew that me and Bella wouldn't do anything we wouldn't do if they were home so they went out for dinner and were gonna go out for a movie. They wouldn't be home until late. But when I got a call from the police she couldn't stop crying.
"Bella, I need you to drive me to the hospital," I said bawling, "my parents were driving home from a friends house and they got hit by a drunk driver. My dad's gone and my moms got less than a day."
"I was gonna go there anyways. I shouldn't pile this on top of what's happening but Cass tried to commit again."
"I don't give a shit about Cass right now Bella! My dad's dead and my moms dying," I screamed as Bella held her.
"Alright, come on."
Bella helped me out of bed and downstairs. She took my keys and drove us to the hospital. As soon as I was there I saw my dad being wheeled away.
"Wait!"
I ran to where my dad was and pulled the blanket back from his face. There was glass shattered all over his face, giant fragments jutting out from his cheek and one eye socket. I started to hyperventilate when Bella got me to one of the beds. And a nurse got me a breathing mask.
"I need to see my mom," I said moving the mask away from my mouth, causing my breathing to be worse than before.
"What's her name," the nurse asked me.
"Mindy Johnson."
"I'm gonna get you a wheelchair and a portable oxygen tank. I'll be five minutes."
The nurse ran off and I looked at Bella.
"I'm sorry this is happening," I said through the mask.
"Don't be. I'm happy to be here. You shouldn't have to go through this alone."
"Your mom's in the ICU. She's being brought out of a coma for you to say good bye," the nurse said as she switched my oxygen to the portable tank.
"Hey, Ellie said thats where Cass is. While your with your mom I'll comfort Ellie."
"Good idea."
Bella walked with me to the ICU and kissed my head as I went in. From what Bella told me, Ellie was crying a lot until they were allowed to go see Cass.
Anyways, my mom. She was awake and obviously in pain.
"Mom..."
"Lia. I'm so sorry."
"Mom, just shut up, I need to tell you something," I said moving the mask, causing my intake of air to have a slight wheeze.
"Well do it. I'm dying here," she said chuckling. Im happy to say that she was perky till the end.
"Mom, I'm a lesbian."
"Oh Lia, I knew that already."
"How," I asked tearing up.
"Baby Girl, Mama knows all."
I laughed a little.
"Did you know I'm dating Bella?"
"No. Honey I'm so proud of you."
I took my moms hand in mine.
"I love you Mom."
"I love you too Lia. I'm sorry this is how it's gonna end."
"This isn't an end Mom. I'll see you again some day."
"You ready Lia?"
I nodded and watched as the nurse upper her morphine and started to turn off the machines that were keeping her alive. I kissed her head and told her I love her again before her line went flat.
"Time of death, 3:45 am. Do you have any family?"
"I'm 17, I can take care of myself, or live with my girlfriend."
"We'll clean your parents up for their funeral."
"Thanks. I should go. My friend is in here some where."
I went with the wheel chair to sit with Bella and Ellie before we were told to go home and wait to visit in the morning. Ellie, Bella and I went back to my house. They let me take the oxygen tank and one of the nubby nose things for the tank. The nurse told me to keep it on until I got to a doctor. It was like she knew I had something wrong with my lungs.
