lauren giggled in the car as her best friend emily danced to a song. it was a funny sight seeing her best friend, who was usually serious, dance like a phsyco to some song they didn't even know:

they were both currently in emily's mini cooper, driving to the hollywood sign, because they were going to go hiking.

the music was blasting, windows down, wind blowing, and them singing. it was a pretty nice day.

when they finally arrived at the big mountain lauren grabbed her small shoulder bag and put it on, then got a water bottle and stuffed it in the bag. emily was getting her jansport backpack out and putting protein bars in the small pocket.

they started hiking up the hill, in the blazing sun. the good thing was that a steady and cool wind was blowing across their skin.

"don't do it! please lauren." emily pleaded.

"I just wanna see what's at the top of the hill!"

"but the sign states that we can't go there! it's too close to the hollywood sign."

"I don't care emily. I'm going wether you come with me or not." lauren spoke.

she headed up the steep mountain, which looked pretty scary if you faced down. she climbed up the rocks and finally reached the top, right next to the hollywood sign.

"wow." she breathed.

it was sure worth it. the view was incredible and she couldn't believe she was only a few feet from the hollywood sign.

"lauren? you okay?" emily said as she climbed up next to lauren.

"yeah." she nodded.

"emily, can i have a protein bar?" lauren asked.

emily nodded as she took out a chocolate protein bar and handed it to her.

"thanks."

so there they sat, two 18 year old girls on top of the hollywood sign hill, where it was illegal, and eating protein bars.

it was now 5:43 pm and they were still on the hill chatting and laughing the day away.

eating protein bars, drinking water, and eating the ham and cheese sandwiches that lauren had made.

"do you think we can survive by only eating protein bars and drinking water?" lauren asked emily.

"i think so, i mean why not?"

"hey emily?" lauren asked.

"yeah?"

"what do you think is at the bottom?"

"bottom of what?"

"the hill."

emily shrugged as she took another bite of her ham and cheese sandwich. she really didn't care about that, but lauren wondered what was down there.

"hey, I'm going to go to the car, I'll be right back." emily said as she stood up.

"okay."

lauren wondered, what could possibly be down there. she wanted to know, it was something she couldn't simply ignore. animals? dead people? caves?

all of the above?

only one way to figure that out.

but lauren wasn't sure if she wanted too.

she just stared at the sky and thought about what would happen if she jumped.
