Astrid didn't take the death that bad. Well to the naked eye anyway. She seemed calm and collected like usual but then when she was behind closed doors she got angry. She mourned with anger and only anger. Punching almost everything she can find to let out emotions.

Astrid-after letting out said emotions-was called into the Great Hall by the Stoick and Valka. Oddly enough Spitelout was standing there, arms crossed and a smug look on his face. "So hows the family, I mean the alive ones of course." anger flowed through the blondes veins and she began to charge at the man, being held back by the chief who had narrowed eyes at Spitelout while Valka was almost as angry as herself.

"We are not here for that." the chieftess stated putting a hand on Stoick's shoulder. Stoick had just simply nodded and let go of the blonde who was still tense from the earlier events. "As you, all know Olav Hofferson, the former General of Berk, has tragically died. He was ambushed while visiting his brother." Stoick began with devastation in his voice, his eyes tightening throughout the sentence.

"Berk now has no General and Spitelout-"

"Is next in line." the Lout had proudly stated hands on his hips. Astrid furrowed her brows. The Hoffersons, for generations were the generals they were always the strongest of them all, the Hoffersons never stopped training even when it was so dark you couldn't see your own hands in front of you the Hoffersons always made these crazy drills for themselves and trained day in and day out.

Astrid older brother was supposed to be next in line for general until something tragic had happened, but that's a story for another day. Out of jealousy, Spitelout claimed that he should be general instead of a woman and at first Stoick put the idea to the side and it wasn't until out of complete annoyance did Stoick agree, not knowing how strong the Hofferson girl was to come.

"Yes, unless Astrid here decides to fight Spitelout for the title." Valka butted in, her accent becoming more thick with every word she said. Astrid didn't hesitate to agree, she refused to be the reason the Hofferson name was dishonored.

Spitelout as confident as ever had patted Stoick on the back with the smug look back on his face "So when do I get to beat the lass?" more narrowed eyes followed the statement "You two will fight tomorrow morning, so be prepared."

Hiccup opened the door to the Hall a smile on his face the instant he saw his betrothed. "Hey, Astrid! You ready to go on that flight? I got everything re-what's going on?" his expression changed quickly when he noticed the tension in the room. Spitelout let out a laugh and walked out of the Hall, saying something under his breath.

"On the way story?"

"On the way story," Astrid confirmed

After the Twins couldn't keep their mouths shut all of Berk was in the stands at the arena anxiously waiting to see the Jorgenson vs Hofferson fight. Each able to pick their own weapon Astrid, of course, decided to use her own double-headed ax while Spitelout used his sword.

Standing on opposite sides of the arena the two eyed one another while the Vikings in the stands were choosing who they thought would win. The Twins had made something up where the villagers bet something for who they think will win. If they guessed the wrong person they don't get what they bet back.

"Everyone calm-EVERYONE CALM DOWN!!" Stoick desperately yelled but soon gave up and looked at Toothless who shot a Plasma Blast into the sky. All eyes were now on him everyone as quiet as can be.

"What are we waiting for? Let the fun begin!"

Spitelout was the first to move rather quickly also, while Astrid slowly stepped toward him, ax in hand. He charged at her, while she was younger and more agile, as well as slimmer, she easily ducked or rolled or simply sidestepped to get away from all of his swings. What surprised the crowd was the sudden 'clang' of their weapons as Astrid eventually met her ax with his sword. The blonde pushed it toward the ebony haired man and his sword got threateningly close to his own face.

Spitelout swiftly ducked and used the butt of his sword and hit it into her stomach. She put her free hand on her stomach and took a few steps back. The man laughed and took the ax out of her hand, throwing it to the other side of the arena.

Astrid recovered and ran toward the man and before he could blink she kicked the sword right out of his hand. Both now weaponless. The Hofferson put two fists up while the Jorgenson wasn't the best at hand-to-hand.

Yet, a smirk crossed his face.

He ran upwards and punched her in the shoulder, in which before she could react he grabbed her face squeezing it hard. "Face it, lass you've got no chance, we wouldn't be here if you didn't kill your brother." eyes widened and guilt crossed her face. Granted, that didn't happen but Astrid had always blamed herself for the incident.

Spitelout threw her to the ground and turned arms up to the crowd claiming victory. Astrid's leg silently moved across the ground, as if it were in slow motion she tripped him, making the man fall to the floor.

Astrid lifted him up and did something rather unexpected. Put him into the unbeatable Hofferson Headlock. No one had ever escaped it and only Hofferson knew how to do it correctly to make it so. Spitelouts arms desperately roamed to find anything that could weaken her put her heel met his gut and she kicked him there. Hard.

After a few seconds, he admitted defeat and much to Astrid's dismay he took him out of the headlock with a smile on her face. Stoick raced into the arena and grabbed the woman's arm, lifting it up and claiming her as the victor of the battle.

_____________

Spitelout angrily skipped the celebration for the new general and went to his hut. He dragged his feet up the stairs and sat down on his bed thinking about what had happened. Where did he go wrong? There was nothing he could do to stop. That headlock is unbeatable. He silently sat there, until unwanted thoughts crossed his mind. Well, formerly unwanted. He at first, had thought of maybe getting rid of the Hofferson? If he did so then he would be the next General. Furrowing his brows he smirked, this plan would be unstoppable.
