She had allowed us entrance and told us to sit down.

I wasn't sure if I should say anything so I just kept quiet.

Then George started talking, "Professor, I'm not sure if you've heard already but Emily has had really bad nightmares".

At this she nodded her head and said that she had thought  madam Pomfrey had given me something for that before summer break.

George told her that she did but said that it had stopped working soon after the break had started.

He then continued "sometimes she barely sleeps at night and even when she does she is woken up by the nightmares. When we were here last semester, we usually met in the common room and talked the whole night, sometimes she would fall asleep for a little while. I wasn't sure what I should do, but tonight she ran down, out of breath and she looked really shaken so I had to bring her to you".

Professor McGonagall listen quietly the whole time and nodded her head when George had finished, she stayed quiet for a while and then asked "Can you tell me about the nightmares miss Dursley?"

I wasn't sure what I should say "Um, I can't really remember most of them, and even if I do it's usually only fragments, dark places and dark figures.. and when I first came to be in this school I dreamt about my parents, their death and them blaming me... those dreams have stopped though. I also remember some fragments of a graveyard and some sort of gate... That's all I remember, I'm sorry"

I also told her that most of the nights when I wake up, it's not because the nightmares are scaring me, it's rather like they are throwing me out of my sleeping state.

She listened to what I said and when I had finished telling her all that (when I started talking, I couldn't really stop), she asked me to tell her more about the potion.

"She said that it was supposed to allow me to sleep without dreaming or having nightmares and it was supposed to be enough for the whole break. It worked for about a week, maybe more, then the nightmares came back" I told her.

She took note of what I said and said that it was strange, that that should not have happened. She then asked me if I could remember anything about tonight's nightmare.

I tried to concentrate on it and told her what I could "this nightmare was different from the others, this one scared me. There was a lot of screaming, both from a woman and man, maybe more people, I couldn't really distinguish them that well. I saw claw marks, on a portrait, I think it was the portrait of the Fat Lady, but she wasn't there. I heard a woman cry and I had a feeling of dread washing over me. Then all of a sudden I saw the Whomping willow, it wasn't still like it is most of the time, but moving around a lot... and a big black dog. There were some other things happening but they were moving too fast or were too blurry so I couldn't really see it clearly..."

When I finished telling them this I was shaking, it was like the feeling of dread was still with me. George took my hand and I smiled at him.

The professor looked concerned at this and said that we should go to the hospital wing, that we needed to talk to madam Pomfrey.

We stood up and professor McGonagall told George that he could go back to Gryffindor tower, I looked at him in panic and he asked if he could come with us.

She seemed to realize that it could really help me if he came along and she allowed it.

When we got to the hospital wing there was no one there, except for madam Pomfrey.

Professor McGonagall had sent her a message before we left her office.
She had told her that the potion had stopped working.

Madam Pomfrey looked at me and asked me why I hadn't contacted her when it had and I said I didn't know I could have done that.

She smiled sympathetically and we forgot all about it.

Then she told us to wait there and she went to get something. "This should allow you to get a full night of sleep, you might still have these bad dreams, but this potion will help you handle it and you won't startle awake, you won't get the fear from the dreams. If it doesn't work, please come back and we'll try something else, alright?"

I was a little caught off guard with all this, but I nodded my head and said thank you.

We thanked them both and the professor told us to go back to the tower.
