When we got back to the tower I thanked George and told him I was going to go back to my dormitory and see if the potion works. We said good night and I went straight to bed.

The next thing I knew it was morning and I woke up to Hermione getting ready for the day. "Good morning, did you sleep well?" She asked. "Surprisingly well" I answered her with a smile while I stretched. We met with Harry and Ron in the common room and walked together in the Great Hall.

When we sat down at the Gryffindor table, George handed us our timetables. While looking at them, we saw we had some new subjects this year. Our first class was Divination and knowing it was going to take some time to get there, we left the hall early to hopefully get there on time.

We ended up getting a bit lost so we asked a knight from one of the portraits to help us find the classroom. The classroom was pretty weird, there wasn't much lighting and it felt quite warm in there. I felt uncomfortable in there. The class started soon after we arrived.

Professor Trelawney is a bit strange, but I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise, given the room we're in. She told us to work two and two together so I paired with Hermione and Harry paired with Ron. We were studying with tea leaves, trying to figure out what was in each others cups, when we noticed professor Trelawney talking to Harry and Ron so we stopped what we were doing and listened to her with everyone else.

She talked about everything we knew already about Harry including the deadly enemy thing, Hermione was not impressed. Then the professor screamed and fell into a vacant chair. She told him that he had the Grim, which I didn't understand, neither did Harry or a few other students. When she told us what it meant - the big dog, the omen of death - I saw that Harry was a bit shocked and I was a little bit rattled as well. I remembered the black dog we saw when we were running away from Privet drive.

We had to run toward the Transfiguration lesson to get there on time. Harry and I chose the seats at the back and even though we were there, all of the other students kept looking at Harry and were barely paying attention to professor McGonagall. I only knew she was teaching us about animagi, I was trying to write down some notes but the others were a bit distracting.

When she turned herself into a tabby cat, there were only a few of us looking at her. She did seem surprised that she did seem surprised that she did not get an applause and finally asked what was going on. After learning we had been in Divination class she simply asked who it was that was supposed to die this year. When Harry had told her it was him, she informed us that professor Trelawney has done a similar prediction every year since we started teaching at the school and she thought it very unlikely that it would come true.

Soon we continued our lesson and after that we went to lunch. I found a seat by the twins while the trio sat together. I was telling them about the two classes and what had happened in them when I heard a very loud noise and saw Hermione walk away, out of the Great Hall.
After lunch we had Care of Magical Creatures.

Hagrid led us to a paddock and told us to open our books. Malfoy was acting like he always did and it made Hagrid stumble a bit in his teaching. Me and Harry told Malfoy to shut up at the same time and soon after Hagrid brought the magical creatures to us that we were going to learn about.

They were surprising creatures and everyone backed away in bit of a shock. I didn't move too far and soon Harry, Ron and Hermione came back to stand next to me. Hagrid told us they were Hippogriffs, half horse, half eagle creatures and I agreed with him when he asked us if we thought they were beautiful. I especially liked the stormy grey one who stood next to him, he was standing tall and looked so proud. I kept staring at him and soon he caught my eye and wouldn't look away. He told us they were proud creatures and that we should never insult them. He also told us that we always wait for the Hippogriff to make the first move and how we should approach them.
Then he asked us who wanted to go first.

I was about to raise my hand when Harry said he would. He bowed like Hagrid told him to do but Buckbeak - the Hippogriff - didn't seem to want to bow so Hagrid told him to back up a bit. When Harry was about to do that, Buckbeak bowed and we all cheered. Hagrid told Harry he could pet him and soon after he said he could ride him.
When Buckbeak and Harry came back down, we went over the fence to try as well.

I was with Ron and Hermione with one Hippogriff who was letting me pet his beak. I could see Draco, Crabbe and Goyle around Buckbeak close by, Draco petting his beak and I heard when Draco started talking, loud enough for Harry to hear. I knew he was showing off and I could sense he was about to do something stupid.

So as soon as I heard him start insulting Buckbeak, I ran towards him and right as Buckbeak was about to scratch Draco, I pulled him out of the way. Hagrid ran to us and calmed Buckbeak down while I yelled at Draco. I was so angry, I was almost seeing red. "You idiot! were you not listening at all at the beginning of class or were you too busy gossiping with your friends?!?" I couldn't believe he was so stupid. I mean he's lived in this world for all his life, he should know that if someone warns you about the creature, you should take it to heart. Especially if it's a magical creature.

Draco looked shocked but seemed to get angrier as he was realizing what I was saying to him. He opened his mouth to say something but I interrupted him.
"You do not insult Hippogriffs unless you want to get hurt!" I was going to continue yelling at him but Hagrid dismissed the class before I could.

I knew Draco was pissed and probably wanted to say what was on his mind so I told the trio to go without me and stayed back to talk to Hagrid, if Draco wanted to try something with Hagrid around, that was his choice. When he saw what I was doing, he seemed to come to the same conclusion as I did and decided to leave and not do anything. I let go of the breath I didn't know I was holding in.

I knew it wasn't a complete win but it would give me some time to prepare for what was going to happen. When everyone was on their way to the castle I asked Hagrid if I could try to approach Buckbeak. He seemed happy that I asked and was quick to say yes.
I approached Buckbeak slowly, bowed and made sure to keep eye contact the whole time.

He stared at me for a bit before he bowed and let me pet his beak. Hagrid made sure that the other Hippogriffs were okay and then walked to us to talk to me. "He seems to like yeh". I smiled at him while still paying attention to Buckbeak, "he is very sweet, I like him too."
He told me a bit more about Hippogriffs and I asked questions about where he got them and about other creatures.

Before we knew it, the sun was setting and we realized that we had been talking for a few hours. I said a quick goodbye to Hagrid and Buckbeak before running up to the castle where I went straight to the Great Hall to get something to eat.

Draco glared at me when I walked in but I just pretended I didn't see him and sat down beside Harry and Hermione. I heard people whispering and saw them looking at me, Harry told me that they were talking about what had happened in Care of Magical Creatures class, that everyone knew I had yelled at Draco but different versions of the event were going around.

I knew this was going to happen but it still surprised me a little. This was probably going to be talked about for a few more days so I would just have to get used to it.

Harry saw what happened but Ron and Hermione only managed to see and hear a part of it so I ended up telling them and the twins what really happened. They thought if it was brilliant, what I did and that Draco had it coming.

We started working on the homework professor McGonagall gave us when we got back to the common room, but I kept hearing people whispering about me and it was a bit distracting. Hermione noticed I wasn't able to concentrate and told me we could continue it tomorrow in the library if I wanted to. I thanked her and said that that would be nice. Soon after I said good night to them and went upstairs to try and get some sleep.
