Naruto couldn't say that he was happy but, had he ever been happy? Thinking back he seriously wondered. Maybe he'd been happy with the old man.... was that what happiness felt like? It was hard to imagine it anymore, just like how it's hard to imagine the sun after not feeling it in forever. Sitting there on his broken apartment floor he pulled his knees too his chest breathing out a sigh. He wondered in Sarutobi would be disappointed in what he'd become, in what he'd done to himself and to others. "I miss you, you damn old man.." his voice came out in tremors and through the cold that surrounded his empty space you could clearly see his breaths as they floated into the air disintegrating into nothingness. Something had to pull him out of this, a mission, a crisis, anything. Naruto knew that in time he'd have to face the world again, as painful and agonizingly lonely as it sounded, and he knew that if he sat here he'd accomplish nothing. It takes him a second, a moment to gain some strength and to pull himself off the ground, but he's up again, up and standing looking at the dull clouded sky. Just then there is a rustle of a doorknob and in enters Kakashi an Iruka. Iruka is the first to notice Naruto's presence.
"Naruto, what are you doing here? I thought you were staying with Sasuke?" Cringing at the name the small blonde laughed softly. "I was but I ended up being a burden to Sasuke, I left-" Kakashi's eyes narrowed on him and he closely inspected the teen. "You stayed here the night then? Naruto this was supposed to help you and Sasuke become closer friends I don't understand why you keep pushing all his buttons." Being sleep deprived and emotionally exhausted all the boy did was grunt at him and mumble something along the lines of 'its my fault, I get it already' before walking into his kitchen and pouring some water into a cup ramen. "Well Naruto since you're here you can help us fix your apartment a little bit." "Okay sounds good." The workload sounded amazing to him right now, a nice good hours worth of work to keep his mind from wandering would be nice. After taking a few bites of his cup ramen he dumps it and picks up a broom sweeping away the glass and the dust that had been collected on the floor. "So Naruto what time did you come back here yesterday?" Iruka asks as he helps kakashi move the frame of the window to take the rest of the glass out. "Time? I'm not sure it was around six or so, but I ended up pissing him off, I didn't mean to though I just thought that maybe I could repay him for letting me stay." Furrowing his brow the silver haired man stopped to look at him, "Repay him how?" "I cleaned his house a bit, it was looking dusty and lonely so I cleaned it up a bit, and when he came home he got so angry that he kicked me out." Iruka's heart ached for the two boys, he understood now, Naruto was doing it out if his best kindness feeling that maybe Sasuke was just lonely but Sasuke had gotten angry because the last time anyone had done something like that for him was when his family was alive. "I see, don't let it bother you too much, I'm sure you guys will make up soon." Kakashi smiles over at him and Naruto just nodded softly and gave him a small smile of his own. Having people who cared felt good, he wished it was always like this.
Back with Sasuke he'd finally pulled his shit together. Sasuke started to appreciate what the dobe had done for him taking in the new smell of lemon and the shininess of his wood floors. He felt like shit, like a bad person, and an idiot. He overreacted, but who could blame him, no one had ever been as close to his home since his family and suddenly that blonde idiot makes it feel warm again, makes it feel like it did when nobody was dead and everyone was still living and loving around and with Sasuke. Maybe he should go apologize to him, or maybe he should sit here and bitch and moan some more about it then apologize during training. With a sigh he got off his ass and waltzed over to Naruto's place. Once he's arrived he took a breath and then he knocked. Inside an unexpectant Naruto opens the door and to his surprise there's Sasuke. "Sasuke? What are you doing here?" Naruto asks stepping closer towards the door. "I... came to apologize for yesterday, I didn't mean to get so sensitive...." Naruto smiled softly. "It's okay I know I shouldn't have touched your stuff." Shaking his head the raven haired boy frowned. "No really I shouldn't have been so touchy." Hesitant for a moment and then all at once Naruto opens the door and smiles over at him sincerely "wanna come in and help us?" Sasuke raises a brow,"us?" Just then Iruka and Kakashi are seen in the door way. "Yo, Sasuke-Kun." They greet. Sasuke's face turns a slight pink and he waves. "Wanna come inside and help us out?" Naruto asks just then he's hit with the realization that he lies to Sasuke about why he needed to stay at his place. Surely he wouldn't remember would he? "I thought your apartment was getting renovated?" He asks. Shit he remembered. "Well you see- someone broke in and uh it's just been hard to get things together so-" Naruto began to ramble and he broke eye contact, Sasuke noted some tell tale signs that Naruto had picked up. When he was nervous he fumbled with his words and rambled a lot, that was cute, or when he was angry he would puff his cheeks out, when he was sad or confused he'd avoid eye contact and talk much softer. "Naruto, it's fine you don't have to tell me if you don't want to." He heaved a sigh of relief. "Thanks teme."So then they began to word, not as a unit but as a family... Naruto wishes it could be like this all the time...
