(The full story where a Jack preference was inspired. I'm really proud. Hope you like it ♥)

You were at prom and the supposedly magic night, wasn't going so magic for you. You went with your girl friends because you didn't have a boyfriend and they didn't get asked so you decided to go together.

It seemed like a good idea when you first thought about it but then seeing all this creative promposes and happy couples around you made you a bit jealous and sad.

Of course your friends left you all alone, they got asked to dance and you just didn't want leave the table to be a third wheel. The perfect night was kind of ruined for you, after all two hours of doing your makeup and a beautiful dress and hairstyle were all thrown away. You decided to go outside and get some fresh air.

You get outside all the bad things that were happening start flashing on your mind. Tears threaten to roll down your face and ruin your perfect makeup and dress. You hear a voice. A voice you know very well so you try to calm down and put a smile on your face.

"Oh Hey Y/N! What are you doing here, outside?" he asks. Not the right moment.

"Hi Jack. I just needed to breathe." you try to not make eye contact, he can't see the state of mess you're in.

"Totally understandable. Uhm, you look stunning by the way." he says taking a btter look at you even though he couldn't take his eyes off of you all night.

"Thank you. You look great too. Never thought you were the tuxedo type of guy."

You decide to finally face him, your cheeks hit a light shade of red from the compliment and when you actually look at him your jaw almost drops to the ground.

"The thing is, I'm not. I had to make an exception for tonight." he kinda laughs making your hear flutter and chills go down your spine.

"Well I think the universe is glad you did." you laugh with him looking into his beautiful brown eyes in a way you never did before.

"Uhm it's getting kinda chilly here, we should go inside, I don't want you to get sick. Plus your date must be looking for you." he says scratching the back of his neck.

"No. It's ok for me. And I came alone anyways so. Well I came with my friends but they ditched me." you tell him with your arms crossed kind of embarassed.

"Oh ok. Actually, same. I wasn't even suppose to be here." he says.

"Yeah I thought you were in LA!"

"I was but then I came home and everyone wanted me to come so, now I'm here. And honestly I wish I wasn't. I'm just really not interested in this things anymore.... I'm sorry I'm just really surprised you're here alone." he stands there being awkward when there's no need to.

"I'm not. I wasn't expecting to be asked anyways. I don't have a boyfriend or any guy close to me that actually likes me so, it wasn't a surprise." you smile at him kindly even though it hurt a bit.

You weren't here to be my date after all.

You and Jack had this weird relationship. At first you were good friends. He would always kind of flirt with you but you both always took it as a joke.

Then he started to get popular and famous on social media. Everyday people told you he liked you and he was teased when you walked by. Eventually you two started to drift apart. He became this important guy and you were just there. He always smiled at you in the hallways and you smiled back but you two barely spoke.

"It is for me. They were stupid not to ask you to prom. All these guys, they are the ones missing out." he gently pull your chin up and makes you look in his eyes.

At this point you were inches away from each other. The cold air hits you making you shiver and your eyes switch to look at his lips.

"I'm sorry if I ever let you down and sorry for closing you out. I just thought you were too good for me you know?"

"Why? Because of the band?" he asks, his other hand meets your waist.

"No, long before that. I just thought I didn't deserve you. Maybe I was the one missing out on something." you look down before your gaze meets his smile.

You don't know what made you confess it was just something in him being there and actually caring. He rests his forehead on yours, closing his eyes for a second. You do the same, letting the moment and feelings take over. Your hands move to his shoulders.

"Is it too late to ask you to dance?" he asks making you both slightly laugh. You look inside seeing some people leaving.

"A bit, yeah. But I don't really dance anyways." you giggle looking back at him again.

"I'm sorry I didn't do this sooner." he says making you stand there confused. But only for a couple seconds.

His soft lips meet yours and although you were quite shoked at first you kissed back. Butterflies on your stomach as his hands held you close.

What felt like the magic that was missing all along, ends when you both pull away from the slow, passionate kiss.

You can't help but show a cute smile and look at him. He pulls you in for a hug and you rest your head on his shoulder. After some time he feels you getting cold.

"Hey! C'mon, let's get out of here." he kisses your forehead and holds your hand leading you inside.

The rest of the night was spent in a little adventure and thinking of plans for the future. You wanted to move to LA if you got in the school of your dreams. That would be the perfect next chapter in your life.
