Darius' POV

I arrive at the pack house, which is where the party was held last night, a little while ago. My parents live there as well as most of the pack members, including Drew. Even though I am the alpha, I do not live at the pack house myself because I wanted my own place. I felt that when I finally found my mate, I need to live somewhere away from the scrutinizing eyes of my pack members.

I head upstairs to my parent's room. It's been a minute since I last spoke to them, so I'm sure they will be happy to hear the news I have for them. I knock on their bedroom door and not a second later my mother opens it with her usual bright smile.

She hasn't change a bit.

My mother's brown eyes match her creamy brown skin perfectly and thick curly hair surrounds her round face.

"Hey, momma." I smile

"My baby! I have missed you so much!"

"I missed you too mo-" I start to say but get cut off by a sharp hit to the side of my head.

"Don't you ever go that long without speaking to your mother again! Do you hear me?" She says with a stern look on her face.

I massage the side of my head and mumble "Yes ma'am.." Her face lights back up with a smile. "Now get your big self in here and give me a hug" I chuckle at how fast her mood can change and do as she says.

"Is dad somewhere around here?"

"He just finished up in the shower, should be out soon though. Why?"

"I have very important news and I want to tell you guys at the same time."

"Well go ahead, we are listening." I gruff voice says behind me. "Hello to you too dad." I mutter then turn around to face him. He's clad in a navy blue long sleeve shirt and jet-black dress pants.

He cocks an eyebrow at me "I'm waiting." I roll my eyes at his lack of patience.

"I have found my mate."
"Are you serious!?" exclaims my mom as she jumps up and down excitedly.

"Yeah I'm serious Ma, she's the most perfect human I've laid my eyes on"

"Wait", says my dad, "She's human?"

"Yes she is. I expect you to respect that" I say as I puff up my chest and make direct eye contact with my dad. I do not want him creating problems for me and Alex by not accepting that she is human.

My dad holds eye contact with me for a few seconds before he backs down. The alpha in him still wants to challenge me.

"I do not have a problem with it son, but I can't speak for the rest of the pack." Explains my dad.

"I have already thought about that, and I will deal with it when the time comes," I say, then continue talking to them about Alex.

I had just finished up explaining everything about my mate to my parents when the slam of the front door echoes throughout the house. My dad was the first to react. He leaped up from where he was seated and stormed out of the room yelling, "Who the hell is slamming my doors!?"

My dad tends to overreact a tiny bit. I rush out the room to see what all the commotion is about.

"Sorry, sir." Samuel Miles, a pack member, mumbles out to my father with a look of regret but also anger. His eyes find mine and he noticeably tenses with rage. What did I do?

"I need to speak with you, now." He says in a firmer voice than before.

"Try that again."

"Sorry. Alpha, can we please talk." He backs down.
