Khaira's POV

Months had passed since the 'oh so date' with Leo. I didn't even go to the date but Emily said that the restaurant was fancy as hell. I laughed in my room that night when Leo replied my message.

'You don't know how nice that date was'.

However, after receiving the message, I felt something like pity for him and disappoint for me. I kept ignoring these feelings, because maybe it would be gone after some days but till now, it still haunted me.

Ugh. I'm so exaggerating sometimes.

Change the subject.

Last week, my mother called me just to say that Jasper had been sent to Milan to learn business.

"Hello," I answered the call that had been ringing for minutes. I thought that the caller would give up but actually no.

"Khaira McQueen, long time no see," Hmm, didn't I expect my mom to call me. It had been over months and this was how my lovely mother greeted me. It did really show that she missed me. Note the sarcasm.

"What do you want?" My voice sounded cold but not harsh. Even if I didn't have a really good relationship with my mom, it's still wrong for me to talked to her like that.

I thought of apologizing but then what my mom said next made me realize that she's not worth for my apologies.

"What do I want? Why didn't you ask the University of Milan? Your brilliant brother entered it, you know. How about you? Just admit that even if you entered that academy, you will never be like your brother," she blurted out.

What had I done to make her thinking so low of me?

My parents knew that I wanted to prove them that I was better than my brother if I passed this academy with flying colors. They heard my conversation with my friends before and they even laughed at me after I hang up the conversation.

"So? What do you want me to do?" My anger was rising up. I felt like bursting my anger to her. What a mother.

I heard her gasping,

"So dumb of you, uh? What you need to do is call your brother and ask for his advice how to be like him. Why don't you get it, Khaira?"

"Why can't you support me, mom? Is it really necessary for you to compare me to him? Is it very important?,"

"Of course it is. Why don't you understand? You'd be more competitive if we did this to you it's proven that you're nothing when it comes to you and your brother,"

"Why do you hate me so much? What had I done to you, mom?" This was the first time I sound so desperate. Yes. I was desperate to know the reason why my parents kept making me look like I was not worth it.

"I don't hate you but I just feel disappointed since you're not what we want you to be. It's so wasting time talking to you like you'd understand us," she chuckled and continued " by the way, we won't take Daniel together with us so we ask Aunt Linda to take care of her. And tomorrow, he'll visit you. Listen to me Khaira, call you brother and ask for his advice,"

"In your dream," I spat at her and hang up the phone.

So that's why the phone kept ringing just now since the caller had such a 'wonderful' news.

And did you hear that? My parents didn't bring my younger brother with them and instead, they ask my aunt to take care of him. Are you having the same parents like mine? I don't think so.

"Are you free this evening?" I asked Leo as I chewed on my sandwich that I bought at the cafeteria. Now, we're currently having launch. Leo was as always having his charming smile on his lips while looking at me. But he turned serious after I asked the question at him.

"I'm sorry but I'm not. I'm doing some work," he said, looking down but when he looked at me back, he suggested,

"Don't worry, angel. We can go somewhere, tomorrow," he smiled at me and I mirrored his expression.

***

While I was walking along the path to my room, I noticed that people kept glancing at the small park that was consist of 2 benches, a small fountain in the middle and some bushes.

And then, I realised that there were 3 boys were pushing a boy at the park. It looked like they're bullying the boy. I ignored them and continued walking to my room.

Once I reached my room, I walked in and closed the door but then when I thought back about the scene at the park, it hit me.

I ran to the park again and I proved myself that I wasn't wrong. Leo, Peter and Chris were the ones that pushed the boy who I couldn't see his face.

I heard what you said to him, Leo. I heard it. It's very similar to,

"Meet us behind the Starbucks this evening,"

I heard you, Leo.
