Jason's POV

I try to stop Stacey but I'm too late. I watch as Hazel picks her bag up with tears in her eyes and run out of the cafeteria. I turn my attention back to Stacey.

"What the hell is wrong with you?!"

"Oh c'mon babe, this isn't the first time I'm doing this. You really should be used to it by now." Stacey says as she tries to wrap her arms around my neck.

I pull them away.

"We're done. You hear that. I'm fucking done with you."I walk out of the cafeteria as she stands with a dumbfounded look on her face, the same look everybody has.

I call out for Hazel waiting for a response but I got none.I walk around trying to find her and almost give up until I see someone falling to the ground.

"Hazel!" I rush to her side to find that she has blacked out. "Shit." I hiss.

I carry her bridal style, her wet shirt sticking to my arm. I run to the nurses office and lay her on one of the beds.

"What happened?" Doctor Molly says as she stands up from the chair she was sitting on hastily.

I run a hand through my hair, worry visibly sketched on my face.

"I- I went out of the cafeteria looking for her. When I didn't hear a reply I decided to walk around and found her on the ground. She wasn't moving." I say pacing around.

I stop moving and walk to the bed she's lying on.

"Is she okay?" I said with fear in my voice.

The doctor pulls up her sleeve to check her pulse not giving me a reply yet. That's when I see it. The lines on her wrist.

Only one thing can cause that. I make a mental note to talk to her about it later.

"She's going to be fine." The nurse sighs snapping me out of my thoughts. "Are you a friend of hers?"

"Yes I am." I say quickly.

We're partners and partners can be described as friends right?

"Can I stay with her till she wakes up. Please?"

Molly looks at Hazels unconscious body for a while before answering me. "Fine but are you sure nobody hurt her?"

Stacey did. "Yes I'm sure."

I'm not trying to protect Stacey but it doesn't seem like Hazel reports any of this things and there might be a reason. I need to find out why before I make any actions.

"Then why is her shirt wet and sticky?" Molly looks at me suspiciously, as if she's daring me to lie again.

"Um, She spilled a coke on herself. She was going to clean up and I wanted to give her her bag."

She doesn't look convinced but I still hold her stare. She nods slowly and walks back to her table.

I stare at Hazels insensible figure taking in things that I've never noticed before. The small dimple on her left cheek that seems to become more evident even when she gives the smallest smile, her perfectly shaped brows, her plump pink lips, her long lashes, everything that makes her beautiful.

I spend one period with her taking a pass note from Molly to get a spare shirt from my locker for her before she finally wakes up.

Hazels POV

I open my eyes and squint as I try to sit up. I see Jason on a chair near the bed I'm on. He turns towards me a smile stretching his lips.

"Doc." He calls out before talking to me. "Hey, how're you feeling?"

I look at him confusion written all over my face.

"You passed out in the corridor after the cafeteria incident."

"Oh." I say as the events flood my memory.

I see the schools doctor walk up to me. We greet each other as she proceeds to check that I'm okay to leave. Molly and I are pretty close considering that she's the only one that knows most of what's going on back home.

"You seem fine Hazel. How's everything at home?"

My body tenses knowing that Jason was listening.

"Fine."

Molly doesn't seem to notice the problem as she goes on to ask me another question.

"Are you still taking the pills?"

I glance at Jason who stares at me eyes filled with questions.

"I try." I say curtly. I don't want anyone else knowing about my personal life, how she doesn't sense that baffles me." Am I good to go?" I ask in a less impolite manner.

She nods and hands both of us a pass.
I grab my bag and walk out, Jason behind me.

"You need to change your shirt." He states.
I suddenly remember who I was talking to, the shyness coming back. "I know." I say timidly.

He opens his bag and hands me a shirt.

"I had an extra one in my locker. You should go clean up. I'll wait for you out here."

"I can't!" I say a little too loudly. The thought of what Stacey would do crashing into my mind.

"Woah, calm down okay. If it's Stacey you're worried about don't be. I broke up with her. Now go."

He did what?

I take the shirt from him hesitantly and go into the females washroom which was behind me. How convenient.

I clean up fast and change into the new shirt. It smelt like him. It smelt good. Really good.

I snap out of my thoughts as I look up to find my disheveled reflection staring right back at me. I've been so stressed lately and it seems like it's taking a toll on my image. I try to repair myself before leaving to find Jason leaning on the locker. Just like he said.

His eyes took me in moving up and down.

Did I look that bad?

"I need to get to class. Give me your phone." He says and I comply. He presses some things in it once I unlock it. He hands it back to me when he's done." My number is in there under the name Jason. We need to meet up for the project. I'll reach you after school. I have your number so don't worry about it. Bye."

He walks away the thought of how he has my number circling my head. I guess the popular people have their ways.

I don't go to class. I can't bare to face anyone. So I take a walk to the abandoned drama room that no one seemed to know exist. I call it my secret room. I go there to think and that's exactly what I go there to do.

I get a call from my mum. I assure her that I'm fine when she tells me that Molly called her.

I couldn't bare the pain in my chest anymore so I do what I do best.

I take a blade from the small compartment of my bag and press it against my wrist. I swipe it across as I feel the stinging pain that fades away after some time

I clean my wrist with a paper towel I took from the bathroom. I needed a release after everything that happened today.

I hear the sound of the bell signify the end of school. Immediately I get a text from Jason to meet him in the schools parking lot. I tell him I'm on my way before I pack up and leave.
