I woke up on a bright Monday morning, birds chirping outside, the sky looking bright and blue." This is going to be an amazing day." If you're wondering why I'm so happy, I'm not. It was all sarcasm.

I got out of my bed and performed my normal morning routines, I got dressed in a simple jeans, shirt and a pair of converse. I turned on my phone and texted my best friend. "Morning b"

In case you're asking why I don't just do that at school, the answer is simple, we don't go to the same school. Piper transferred before we entered year eleven and I miss her so much.

I grab my bag and go downstairs for breakfast. I notice my mum's already on the table with a cup of coffee in front of her.

"Morning mum." I greet as I peck her forehead.

"Morning sweetie." She smiles at me, but it's a small one.

I'm not surprised cause that's the way it has been since my father left us. No,he didn't die. The bastard cheated on my mother and when she found out he didn't even regret it. He moved away to start a family with the woman he cheated on us with. Of course they filed a divorce and he is charged with sending us a certain amount of money every month.

Mum was broken for a long while, she tried hiding it from me but I heard her silent sobs at night and saw her bloodshot eyes in the morning. She's getting over him now but it's a slow process.

I finish my breakfast and grab my car keys from the counter. "Bye Mum." I yell as I walk out of the house to my car. I get in and drive myself to school silently praying that I'm graced with happiness even if it's just for today.

I park my car and get out. I walk into the school building heading towards my locker, I reach it and count five seconds. Nothing. A smile was forming on my lip before I heard the female voice behind me.

"Hey freak"

I knew it was just too good to be true. I couldn't just be left alone. I couldn't be happy. I turned around bracing my self for my daily dose of embarrassment.

"Yes." I replied the female.

In front of me stood the most popular girl of the school. Stacey Morgan. She was everything any girl wanted to be and everything any guy lusted for. She knew that and she was never shy to show it. Behind her stood her two assistants as I like to call them. The followed her everywhere she went like lap dogs.

Disgusting.

"Did I tell you to speak? Huh?" She shoved my shoulders causing me to crash into the lockers. Anyone that wasn't paying attention definitely had their eyes on us now.

I shook my head.

"When I say you speak, you speak. If I don't say so,you don't. I'm sure someone as dumb as you can understand that right."

I didn't reply. In fact,I'm way smarter than her and both of her minions combined. At that point Jason came into the picture.

"Babe, what's going on?" He said as he gave her a kiss on her lips.

"Oh nothing, just making sure that that thing understood some things." If you didn't figure it out she's talking about me. Jason looked at me and I swear I saw something flash in his eyes. I see it every time he looks at me which is almost never.

He is what we call the heart throb of the school. The captain of the football team. Every girls heart throb. The most popular guy in school. He's also known for his jet black hair and beautiful green eyes.

"C'mon lets get to class." He put his arm around her shoulder and they all walked away. I didn't move, I closed my eyes tight and just stood there for two minutes trying to control my breathing and push back the tears that was burning my eyes. I counted.

I took my Literature textbook out of my locker and walked to my class. I took my normal seat at the back of the class when the bell rung.

I'm not a nerd if that's what you're thinking and I'm not the girl with the weird hair colour and piercings either. I'm the normal dressed girl with brown hair and no form of piercings at all. You're confused as to why I get treated like that right, well me too. Ever since Piper left, that's the way it has been. I'm the quite girl who minds her business. My name is Hazel Jackson.

"Okay class, I'm going to start this class by giving you an assignment." Mrs. Andrews announced.

The whole class groaned,I stayed silent.

"Complain all you want but this is going to be submitted in two weeks. It is 20% of your final score. It is going to be done in pairs and before you start leaping on each other I am going to be the one pairing you."

I hate this. I hate this so much. I have always hated group projects. Normally I tell my partner that I would do the entire work myself and I'll turn it in with both of our names on it. They never seem to protest so that's exactly what I'm going to do this time.

"And finally Hazel Jackson and Jason Strong."

I sat up straight in my chair,my eyes wide open.

"What??"
