It's over. She can finally say she had the best ending she could have ever asked for. She no longer had to live in pain and misery, all while barely making it through each day. No one knew her well enough, no one reacted when they got the news the next day at school. No one but Mikey, of course. He was heartbroken.

What happened after she had jumped?  The cops found her bloodied body on the ground a few hours after. They know far too well that it was indeed a suicide. No one is to blame but poor Alexis herself. That's what they thought. They never once questioned why she would do this to herself. They never cared who pushed her to the end. She was dead. That's what they say.

They had an assembly at school Friday morning,  the day after. The kids in school had heard "rumours" on a suicide in town. The Principle had received the news about Alexis from the school's guidance counselor. Whom Alexis would visit regularly. She had seen it posted on the local news website that Friday morning. The principle and guidance counselor had the students go to the gym to clear up the rumour. It was true, he had told them. It was true that one of the people from the school did kill herself.  Of course, the nosy and wondering highschoolers wanted to know who it was. He told them, got no response out of anyone at all. No one but Mikey.

Poor boy, his eyes were forming tears quicker than he could blink them away. He wondered if it was his fault. It made so much sense to him now, why she had lied to him yesterday. She promised she would see him in first period, she didn't show up at all that day, and again all Friday morning. He ran his hair through his long black hair as he tried not to make a scene from his spot on the bleachers.

"We were told by the people who were in charge of Alexis' foster care stuff that you are all welcome to the funeral. It will be held on Tuesday morning.  You will be excused from all classes if you attend." The principle told them. If you give teenagers the option to be excused from all work and classes for a day if they attend a girl's funeral that no one liked, of course they are going to go. They will all show up just to get out of class.

After the students were excused from the gym, Principle Brown called Mikey over to him. "Yeah?" he asked, trying his best to rid of the tears that were still threatening to spill over. "Come with me." was all he said, he led Mikey out of the room and down the hall to his office. Mikey was confused,  what's going on? "Take a seat" Principle Brown told him, so he did. He noticed there was a police officer, she was wearing black dress pants and a suit jacket over a white tanktop. "Michael Andrew Gardner?" he simply nodded and cleared his throat. "that's me. What's going on?"

She took out an envelope from her pocket and handed it to him before stepping back beside Mr.Brown's desk. "What's this?" Mikey asked, as he turned the envelope over. "Alexis had this in her pocket when we found her Thursday. It mentions your name in particular, we thought maybe she addressed the whole thing to you." His face paled as his fingers sat against the white paper. Had she left him a goodbye note? Maybe worse, a suicide note?

"You can read it." He nodded, but only set the envelope down in his lap. "I will later." his voice was heard,  barely. "Someone named, Amanda, said she seen you take Alexis into the foster center one day and said you told her you're the only person Alexis hasn't made enemies with. She would like for you to speak at the funeral on Tuesday, for Alexis. She thinks Alexis will be happy if you did." She told him. Mikey cleared his throat yet again and nodded. "O-okay"

Minutes of silence fell before Mikey spoke up yet again. "She's really gone.." "I'm sorry" Both Mr.Brown and the officer told him. Mikey didn't know what to think now, his best friend is gone. She told him she still loved him, and he rejected her and turned her down. How was he not suppose to think he was the one who pushed her over the edge? He felt horrible, his best friend sice forever ago is really gone. And he couldn't help but feel as though it was entirely his fault.
