A Glorious Beginning

"Do-do-do-do-do!" Aria Nijino sang as she played umpire for her baseball team. Well, it wasn't really a team, Ako Saotome just said she was tired from playing football (soccer) and so Nozomu Igarashi sugjecsted baseball.

"We can use the baseball field no one uses!" he said

"There's a reason no one uses it," said Laura Sakuraba "It's by the old Bokerdole mansion," Laura shivered "Just thinking about it gives me the chills,"

"People still live in there too!" added Yume Nijino (Aria's older sister) "But no one knows if they're dead or alive and I don't want to know!"

"There are no such things as ghosts," said Kanata Yuki

"But I could go for the challenge," said Subaru Yuki (Kanata's older brother) "I'm up for it if you guys are,"

"I see no problem with it," said Ako "That old house is probably long since abandoned -"

"By the living," Asahi Kasumi added

"Oh be quite!" said Mahiru Kasumi (Asahi's younger sister) "Subaru, Kanata, you have the equipment we need at your house, right?" They nodded. "Good, you get the stuff, we'll meet you at the field in a few minutes, okay?"

"Right!"

And so there they were, boys vs. girls, and since the amount of girls was higher then the amount of boys, Aria decided to play umpire favoring no side.

Yume and Kanata were pitchers, Laura and Asahi were batters, and Ako, Subaru, Nozomu, and Mahiru were catchers.

"Dodo-do-do-dodo! Play ball!" Aria sang

"Thank you Aria," said Subaru "Now let's actually play ball, come on Asahi! Hit one for the team!"

"You know it!" said Asahi

"Alright, get ready for my fast ball!" said Yume

"Oh please," Asahi huffed smugly "I can handle anything you -"

SWOOSH!

"Strike one!" called Aria

"Hey that didn't count!"

"Yes it does!" said Mahiru

"Ok, I wasn't ready that time," said Asahi

"Ready?" said Yume

"Yeah!" Asahi replied

"Alright ..."

SWOOSH!!

"Strike Two!" called Aria

"Get your head in the game Asahi!" said Nozomu "Come on! You can do it!"

"We assumed you could do it!" Subaru added "Hit the dang ball!"

Asahi gripped the bat tighter.

"Ready?" Yume asked

"Ready,"

Yume tossed the ball ...

...

And Asahi actually hit it!!

It flew high in the air, out of the park, and right into the window of the Bokerdole Mansion.

CRASH!

"Oh ... shoot," said Kanata "You broke the Bokerdole's window!"

"Ah! You'll be haunted for the rest of your life by their disturbed souls!" Aria cried

"Let's not get over excited," said Laura "We're too old to believe in ghosts. But ... Asahi maybe you should go in alone,"

"Alone!?!" Asahi cried "I can't go in there alone!"
