Aria watched as Yume, Subaru, and Ako played three-way football from the kitchen window. She wanted to play with them, if she could hit that home run at the baseball game then maybe she could have showed Subaru she had potential in the game. Why did she have to sprain her ankle?
"Missing your legs?" Hime asked as she placed a glass of pink milk in front of her sister.
"Yes," Aria replied, tearing her gaze off the game "Do you think the doctors could have been wrong? Maybe I can get my cast off sooner! Maybe if I do some of those exercises I sometimes see people do -"
"They won't help heal your ankle, Aria," Hime told her "You just need to wait,"
"Oh, why do I have to wait for everything?" she whined
"What's everything?" Hime asked with a laugh
Aria couldn't mention the plan she and Nozomu had made, so she just huffed and grumbled and drank her milk. Hime smiled and rolled her eyes. "Come on, even with a sprained ankle you can still help me make lemonade for the players out there,"
"Right, right,"
"Get the lemons from the pantry please,"
The two sisters worked together and made a pitcher of cool lemonade. But as they were making it -
BANG!
"What was that?!!" Hime cried
"It sounded like thunder," said Aria
That was all she needed to here, Hime opened the back door. "Guys!!" she called "Get inside quickly, I don't want you guys out there during a thunder storm!"
The three of them rushed in. "Ooh lemonade!" said Yume
"I didn't hear anything about a thunder storm coming," said Ako
"Well the weather man said their was a 60% chance of rain," said Subaru
"Will you two be stuck here?" Aria asked. She gasped "Will you have to stay over for the night? We could throw a sleepover!!"
"As much fun as that sounds," said Ako "We live across the street, I don't think that much damage could happen in the 30 seconds it will take for us to get home,"
"Oh," Aria frowned "Would you stay anyway?"
Subaru smiled and ruffled her hair. "We'll see,"
Aria half wished he didn't do that, it made her feel like a kid. But the other half of her thought it was sweet. "Here," Yume slid a glass of lemonade across the table. Subaru caught it.
"Thanks, Boiled Octopus," he said
Yume snorted, splashing lemonade onto herself a bit, but she did not change her expression. Subaru and Ako stayed around longer and talked, Hime worried. "Mum and Dad should have gotten here by now," she said
"Maybe it's traffic," Aria said before thunder clapped from outside and lighting flashed.
"I hope they're okay," said Yume
Ako and Subaru hung around more, they talked with the Nijino Sisters as rain poured outside. Then the phone rang all of a sudden and everyone jumped. "It's Mum!" said Hime, she picked up the phone "Hello? *pause* Mum! What's keeping you? *pause* Oh no. *pause* Oh dear *pause* Yes, but Ako and Subaru are still here. should we send them *pause* Okay. *pause* okay. Goodbye," Hime hung up. "They're not going to be here until tomorrow, the roads were closed off,"
"Oh no," said Ako
"I told them about you two and they said you should still stay inside," said Hime "You should call your parents,"
"We will," said Subaru
~~~~~
Ako, Subaru, Yume, Aria, and Hime all slept in the living room together, too nervous to be on their own. All seemed to be peaceful as the storm of rain turned into a drizzle. But then, Ako sniffed the air. It was not a good smell. At first she thought she was dreaming but woke up with a start to find that she was not.
"Smoke," she said "Guys I smell smoke! I think there's a fire -" But she didn't need to say more. Screams broke out from next door and everyone was awake and panicked.
"What's going on? What's going on?" Aria asked over and over.
"Let's go," said Yume. At once, she, Ako, and Subaru dashed outside while Hime helped Aria onto her back.
The five of them went out to the backyard where a fire blazed from the Arisugawas tree. "Oh no!" Hime cried
Mr. Arisugawa tried to get rid of the fire with the garden hose but it could only save Mikuru's flowers. Sirens whaled and shrieked as they drove over, the five friends, and all Aikatsu Street, met the Arisugawa family in front of their house.
"Are you okay?" Kanata asked
"Y-yes," said Mikuru
"No!" Otome cried "The Starlight Tree house is gone! It's gone!"
Sakura didn't say anything and only cried in her mother's arms, to depressed and scared to say anything.
"Is your house on fire?" Madoka asked
"Only the tree house," Mikuru said, crying. "We should be glad we didn't get hurt,"
"But I want our tree house back!" Otome cried
The fire had died completely after an hour or so. Apparently it was struck by lightning. The tree had split in half, the grass and flowers around it turned to ashes. And the tree house, which everyone knew, was gone forever.
