The last week of the summer Kelli spent in the ocean. She met up with her grandparents who are residents close by. They own a surf shop called "Abmyer Surf Shop". Kelli wanted to work there once she was settled in at school. Surfing made Kelli feel free from the leashes of her parents. Her grandparents were her pride and joy. They always treated her well. She spent many days in their cozy home.

The day had came. It was time for Kelli and her brothers to start school. As promised, their father drove them to school. " Hurry up Kevin!" David, Kelli's dad yelled from the kitchen. "You'll be late for your first day!" Kelli draped her black jansport backpack across her left shoulder and slipped on her white vans her mom bought for her yesterday. I can feel the blisters now. Kelli commented to herself. Kevin arrived with a beet red face and a his pencil case in his hand, clearly not ready. " Dad!!!!" He complained. " Kevin, what do you want me to do?" Her father responded. Her dad went over to where Kevin was standing and gave him a hug. Kevin and her dad smiled. So did Kelli. " let's go. family time is over." Brian groaned. Rolling their eyes, they left.

" Alright my two grown churros—I mean children." Kelli's father said , trying to make a joke. Brian just blankly stared while Kelli tried hiding her smile. " Bye dad." Kelli said. Brian closed the door and headed for the building marked 1. Kelli instead, watched her fathers car leave the car loop. It was what she had done everyday since 1st grade. Kelli's look wasn't super pleasing, but cute— white vans, blonde waves, olive green t-shirt dress, and a beige open sweater. Kelli sighed as the first bell rang.

Kelli had a normal day, going through her classes, being introduced as the new kid in town, and eating lunch. Kelli sat down by herself until a peppy Brown haired girl came skipping over to her. " Hey! My name is Maddie and I'm head cheerleader here at Hampton high!" she said, pointing to her uniform fitted so tight you could see the outline of her bra.

" boy am I glad to see you." Kelli said sarcastically. Going back to eating her sandwich. Kelli thought the girl would leave, but she thought wrong. " So, you obviously don't like me.. but I think you enjoy surfing and my sister loves to surf. She's right over there." Where she was pointing to was another brown-haired,brown-eyed girl. Hmm. I mean it wouldn't hurt to have at least one friend. Kelli turned back to the cheerleader and replied, " alright, if she wants to meet me, I'll meet her." There appeared a smile on Maddie's face that grew. She left and headed over to her sister. A few seconds later she felt two pairs of eyes land on her, then the two of them approached. "Hi." The brown haired girl said. " hi, I'm Kelli." She reaches her hand out to meet hers with a handshake. " Kelli, I'm Abby."— " well, seems you two have met.." Maddie said, rushing as she made Abby sit next to me and brought her tray over to mine. Maddie left without saying anything. " well, that's my sister, head cheerleader." Abby said, acting a little annoyed. Kelli laughed back. " Hey! where do you live?" This seemed too personal to answer but Kelli did anyway. " 456 apple wood lane" Kelli stated. " me too! but I live at 459." Abby exclaimed. " you should come over to my house after school!" She said. " umm I can check with my parents." Kelli said. " oh, well I won't kill you. We can even surf! My brother has a board you can use." Kelli smiled at his thought and said " alrighty then, I'll ask."

Kelli's parents said ok and Abby met up with Kelli afterschool as promised. Kelli was a little nervous to be going home with someone she hasn't gotten to know well other then a period of lunch.
