Chapter 12- Is it Really the end?

Drake and Johnny awoke in separate rooms at the bar both equally hungover but both had the same hopes that Lila would in fact choose them.

Unknowingly to them the battle had already been lost. Johnny knocked on Drake's door.

Drake answered the door and smiles at Johnny. "So man, Today's the day.."

Johnny nodded. "Yup, No hard feelings I hope?."

Drake shuck his head and holds his hand for him to shake it. "No of course not, may the best man win."

Johnny shook his hand. "Absolutely But there are some lessons that definitely need to be learned from this.."

Drake looks at him before bursting out laughing. "Nah man, This will always be between us after all we are blokes aren't we?, There's always a chance we will fight over a girl.. That'll never change."

Johnny grins back. "You know what, I think you might have a point.. Now hurry up and put some pants on because me and you need to go and see Lila."

Drake groans. "What's the rush?" He walks neck into his room and jiggys with one leg putting his leg into one trouser leg and doing the exact same with the other one.

"Can't we just go down to the pub and get the hair of the dog or something?."

Johnny sighs. "No we can't, as much as I would like to have a bit of Dutch courage, This is important."

Drake rolled his eyes. "Fine, Lets go.. We'd better grab a cab though."

They walked out together down the stairs directly to the reception to check out and then to the entrance of the hotel where luckily there was a row of cabs directly outside their door to choose from.

They both entered the cab together and Johnny gave the Driver Lila's address.

The journey there was tense and full of high expectations. They looked at each-other for a second. Drake swallows nervously "Do you think she's okay?."

Johnny shrugged. "Lila?, Who knows.. Even though I've known her the longest I still don't know what she's thinking but part of me hopes that she is okay and that she's tough as old boots."

He added, "After all me and Lila have been through a lot, All I know is today will certainly be life changing."

Little did Johnny and Drake know how life changing their day would truly be.

Unware of what had occurred the night before, They pulled up outside the address.

Drake payed the driver whilst Johnny knocked on the door.

The driver sped off to his next destination and Drake joined Johnny at the door. Drake frowned at Johnny. "Why isn't she answering?."

Johnny shrugged and yells her name through the letter box. "Lila, Open the door It's us."

Drake looked at Johnny. "You don't think she's done anything stupid do you?."

Johnny had an inkling of what he was getting at and his heart started beating faster and faster. He kicked the door open in a blind panic.

They both split up all around the house yelling Lila's name but they both discovered an empty house.

Johnny runs back to the front door looking for any clues. Only to discover there was nothing there. "Drake, There's Nothing here where the hell could she have gone?."

Drake comes toward Johnny holding what looks like a letter. "This might give us something.."

Johnny snatches the letter off him and begins to read,

Johnny,

I know things haven't been great between us for a while now and that is because of me. For that, I am truly sorry. I am so sorry for bringing all this trouble to your door. I swore to myself that I would leave that life that I had with Drake behind and start afresh.

I hoped that it would be with you. but let's face it we can't be together. Not now, Not ever.

I screwed up, It was me that did this and It was me that put you in danger. I didn't want any of this to happen but sadly it has.

You deserve better than this. No, actually you deserve better than me. I am not the woman you should marry.

Once a cheater always a cheater right? I'm sorry, I just don't trust myself anymore and I don't want to break you're heart anymore than I already have.

I'm sorry, I am just not wife material. I knew right from the start that I was never good enough for you and I knew that I wouldn't get the happy ending I so desperately crave. I with great sadness need to tell you that I will probably never be good enough for you.

I'm not perfect but you should have a better wife than me.

Johnny sinks down to the ground shaking. "She's... She's left me."

Drake was gutted for Johnny but inside he was happy thinking that he might finally have a chance with her. Maybe she's left him for Drake?.

Maybe she finally saw sense at last and realised Drake was the guy she wanted to be with."

Drake holds out his hand and helps Johnny up. "This isn't right, We need to find her fast and get answers.. The sooner the better.."
