Chapter 20. I hate that feeling.

The deep blue sky had turned into an ocean of dark black ink with shiny stars blinking cheerfully at the people who looked up. Sometimes, I wondered what it would be like to just sleep under the stars and not worry about a thing.

"So what movie do you want to watch?" a deep voice asked interrupting my thoughts. I dropped my gaze from the clouds and scanned his face. He looked relaxed and it was a mighty fine, drool worthy look.

"Hmmm..." I answered, my top front teeth sinking into my bottom lip, as I thought of what movie I wanted to watch. It had been ages since I've last watched movies; It kind of scares me. I broke away from his stare and looked up ahead. The distant town's light getting brighter and brighter as we drew closer. "Surprise me," I said faintly and for a moment I thought those two words had disappeared into the darkness without being heard.

"Don't worry I've got just the perfect movie," he said getting closer. He put one arm over my shoulder and pulled me closer. I stiffly walked beside him in an awkward way. I wasn't used to guy contact, but this, even though was awkward, felt nice and heart-warming.

I then slid away from his hold and looked at him again. "Dylan"

"Yeah?"

"Race you there," I shouted the last part as I ran as fast as I could to the town. I heard him laugh and felt his eyes penetrating my wooly sweater. He didn't run immediately but as I was about to reach the dazzling town I could feel him catching up to me.

I ran faster, my body vibrating to the huge amount of energy being used. I felt my heart pumping faster, I could almost hear the torture it was applying to my chest. I didn't care about my Jordan's, I just ran.

Pretty soon – less than a minute later that is – he finally caught up to me. He ran further in front of me and stood in my path. I tried stopping but I couldn't. I was too fast, too full of Adeline that I didn't know how to pull the brakes on my legs.

I slammed into his chest and fell, my head spinning like a tornado. "Natalima, are you alright?" he asked in an amused tone.

I rubbed my feet and he let out a roar of laughter. "You, bumped head first into my chest but instead you're rubbing your feet? How hard did you hit your head?" he asked, pulling the strands of my hair away from my face.

"My feet hurt more than my head, OK!" I said almost in tears, not because of the pain surging through my feet but because what he said made sense, I was supposed to be rubbing my head instead.

"Here, let me check," he said coming down to my level and lifting my right foot. After a few minutes of scanning, pinching and feeling my right foot he gently put it down and lifted my left foot. It did hurt like a bitch but I wasn't going to groan in pain and show him my vulnerable side. NO WAY!

"Your right foot seems fine. It's just your that your left foot got sprained a bit," he said standing up, rubbing his hands together. "That's too bad," he said, his voice falling as he shook his head.

"What? Why?" I asked. Was he going to take me back to the dorm? Please, sweet potato no. I didn't want to go back. I shouldn't have run... ughhh! Why?

I was mentally crying. I looked up at him and he gave me a Colgate smile. "It's too bad because now I'm going to have to carry you," he chuckled. He turned around and squatted so that I have easy access to his back. His broad lean back.

Does he know that he makes my stomach twist?

"Hop on," he said, tapping the back of his shoulder. It had been so long since I've been given a piggyback ride and the last person who gave me one was Carter. I was seven and Carter was nine and at that time Carter had a skinny frame. We both went up the hill like Jack and Jill and we all know what happened to Jack and Jill in the end.
