Power Exchange

CHAPTER X: Power Exchange

Naomie's POV

Today is the day I will be exchanging powers but I still have to tell the others and I don't think they will like to hear "Hey guys, I would be exchanging powers with Dex because I discovered that my mother was a water creature who was given lava powers so let's do the exchange and forget all what happened".

Still, I have to wait until Joel and Nicko wake up to tell them all together.

It will be hard doing Water Magic because Dex told me some of the spells required to be chanted in Spanish, which will be very difficult.

He already taught me the basics but it is not easy to learn a second a language, specially when my first language is English.

How will it be? Will my eyes's color change? Will I'll be able to breath underwater? I have so many questions about Water Magic...

"OI! NAOMIE!" Joel shouted in the distance as he get out of the rest room.

It is incredible that he just sleeps about an hour and suddenly he regains all of his magic. He is impressive.

"JOEL! Shut Up! Don't you see I was trying to sleep?!" said a sleepy Nicko also getting out of the rest room.

"Sorry dude, I just got the feeling of shouting" said Joel.

"You could have shouted after closing the rest room's door" said Nicko.

"Well, sorry" said Joel apologetically.

"No prob" said Nicko still a little bit angry. "Now, why you shouted to Naomie?"

"Because of this..." said Joel mysteriously as I approached them.

"Hey guys!" I shouted cheerfully to them.

"Hi Naomie" said Nicko.

"How are you doing" asked Joel.

"Oh, fine thank you" I said.

"You are welcome" said Joel.

"Now why you shouted to her?" asked Nicko.

"To call her, silly" said Joel. "What other purpose would there be?"

"Well, you said it with a tone kind of mysterious" said Nicko.

"Well, sorry for confusing you"

"Dude, that didn't sound apologetically" said Nicko.

"Why are you arguing?" I asked.

"Nothing" said the both of them at the same time.

"Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me". I said with an irritating voice.

"Well, Joel said something with a tone kind of mysterious" said Nicko.

"And that's why you guys were arguing?" I asked doubtfully. "You guys are kind of pathetic."

"Bad habits aren't easy to break through" said Nicko.

"Bad habits?" I asked.

"Yeah. Nicko and I always argued for things like this or even stupider when we where in school" said Joel.

"Oh, thanks guys that explained a lot" I said rolling my eyes. "Now, why you called me, Joel?" I asked.

"Because I didn't have anyone to talk to" answered Joel.

"Dude, I was right by your side all the time" said Nicko with a grumpy face.

"That's why I needed someone to talk to" said Joel laughing.

I laughed and Nicko pushed Joel slightly like saying to stop it, but knowing Joel, he will continue teasing until he is bored.

"Hey, guys" I said. "I need to talk to all of you for something important, so can you two gather the other ones?" I asked with my best puppy face.

"Just give us a sec" Joel said. "Ready for this newbie?" he asked Nicko.

"Ready for what?" I asked.

"Remember, bad habits aren't easy to break so we are going to restart our everything-is-a-matter-of-a-winner-or-loser competition" Joel said.

"We always competed for everything but Joel decided to put that a silly name" added Nicko.

"Alright, whenever you want" I said.

"One" Joel said.

"Two" Nicko said.

"Three!" Joel said but with more intensity this time.

"Speed spell!" Nicko said.

"Teleporting spell!" Joel said.

And then I just saw a blur grabbing Alice's and Max's hands and another grabbing Claire's and Chris's hands.

Two remain. And saw again a blur grabbing Dex's and Jet's hands.

Nicko materialized in front of me with Alice, Max, and Jet and Joel materialized with Claire, Chris, and Dex.

"It's a tie" I said with a smile.

"Next time I'll win for sure" Nicko said.

"You bet" Joel said. "Next time you won't even see me coming"

"Guys, can you shut up? I didn't told you to gather everyone to hear your ramblings and silly games" I said almost in a bossy tone.

"Sorry Naomie" Nicko and Joel said.

"I gathered you all to tell you about my Power Exchange with Dex" I said. " I know it might be a little hard for you guys to swallow but...

"It's okay, Naomie, we will support you in anything" Max said.

"Yeah, in anything you want" Jet added.

"We'll accept your decision even though it will be hard to swallow" Chris said.

"In anything" Claire said.

"You can count on us for anything you need" Nicko said with a grin.

"You know I will always be here to help you out" Alice said.

"And me too, ya know" Joel added and in the instant Claire and Alice looked at me and raised their eyebrows.

I ignored them.

"Well, then let's begin" Dex said.

I made a Magic Lava Circle beneath Dex and he made a Magic Water Circle beneath me, which by the way felt like little needles pinching me on my feet.

Dex and I began chanting the Transfer Spell at the same time, he in Spanish and I in English.

I felt dizzy for a few seconds but then the both Magic Circles began rising, submerging me in water and Dex in lava.

I just heard the others shouting outside my water wall but couldn't quite make out the words.

I felt something change within me. I opened my eyes and mouth and breathed normal, and then I noticed I was still inside the water wall.

As I made it out, I saw Dex outside, his eyes fiery red now.

When I made it out, I saw my reflection on the water wall and my eyes were blue.

The Power Exchange was a success.

Sorry guys for not uploading a chapter in like three months but it was a hell of a trimester for me in my school and didn't have time.

I'll try to upload a new chapter like in between one and two weeks.

Again, sorry for not uploading the chapter sooner.
