CHAPTER XII: Heading to Mt. Everest?

Nicko's POV

"To Mt. Everest? Are you freaking kidding me, Joel?" I asked surprised for his answer.

"I'm always kidding, yeah, but this time I'm being dead serious" Joel said turning serious.

"Why Mt. Everest? That thing is like eight thousand meters high!" Alice said as she raised her hands in exclamation.

"Nicko got a staff, we also need equipment or if not we are gonna die" Joel explained. "Also, we need the Orbs to increase our power"

"What are the Orbs?" Max asked

I'm glad he asked, if not, I would have certainly questioned again my leadership abilities.

"The Orbs are sphere-like objects that are inserted inside a staff or a magical weapon to increase their magic power, strength of attacks, and a more defensive power" Naomie explained.

"Still, Mt. Everest is magic-proof which will make it harder for us to go there" Alice said kind of agitated.

"Then Chris won't be able to do an oxygen field, damn it!" Max said furiously.

Man I never imagined that the highest mountain in the world have held such secrets.

"Question, how are we gonna get to Mt. Everest since it is magic-proof?" I asked.

"Well, we'll teleport to Tibet and then continue by foot. When we reach Mt. Everest, we'll take the northwest path, which is still unknown to explorers or any kind of governmental association, and retrieve the Orbs and the magical weapons" Joel made an it's-obvious face when he finished explaining. Damn, I sure hate when he gets too cocky.

"If it is as simple as you say, oh wise Joel, don't you think other wizards have already taken the Orbs?" Naomie said in an annoying tone which made Joel blush as he quickly watched away.

"No" that's his answer? A simple, plain no?

"Only the seven elemental wizards that are part of the prophecy shall enter the place where the Orbs and magical weapons rest assuredd from danger" Joel said in a mystical tone of voice. Man he is creepy sometimes, well, he has not changed much since he left the school.

"And how do you know this?" I asked wanting to know why Joel knows this much about something that not even Alice, the researcher of this place, knows well.

He sighed. "Well, sooner or later you would have discovered it" Joel said. "When I left school, my parents told me the truth and gave me a book. They said that I if i didn't read it, their purpose to still be alive would be in vain. They told me bad people was searching after them and that I will need to memorize the book and burn it afterwards so the bad people couldn't lay their nasty fingers on it" he smiled. "So, after I memorized the book's context, which was about The Big Prophecy, and burned the book, they gave me the directions of the W.I here in Washington, D.C and told me to run without looking back" his eyes turned watery and, without realizing, I noticed that also mine and evreyone's also turned watery. "The last thing I heard them saying was "We love you, son. We hope you will become a strong, humble, and important wizard" and after that, I ran the farthest away I could from the back part of my house and heard two sounds of bullet" after he said that, he couldn't hold it more and began crying.

Both me and Naomie went to his side to comfort him and after he stopped, he, in a whisper, told us to give him space. Namie and I did as he said.

"Joel, I-I didn't knew. Sorry" Dex said and everyone mumbled in agreement.

"Don't worry. After telling you this, it feels like a burden had been lifted from my shoulders" he said smiling. "Now to the point, who agrees to my plan?" Joel asked to all of us.

We all said 'yes' and went off to pack our things, though I still don't know what to pack since I don't have any of my stuff here.

"Just search in your Wizard Spell Book a spell for a backpack with items of need" I heard Claire told me as she checked her's. 

"Ok, thanks Claire" I said.

"You are welcome" she replied.

Wizard Spell Book, Journey Spells

Packing spell: This spell will automatically make appear bag full of the things that are necessary to on a journey.

That is exactly what I need. I chanted with my staff and made appear a bag in which I putted both my Wizard Spell Book and my FrostWizard Spell Book.

"Is everyone ready?" I asked.

"We are all ready. Dex, Jet, take care and take care of the W.I, please" Alice said.

"All of you take care, also. I promise both me and Jet will keep this place nice and clean" Dex said with a grin on his face.

We all said goodbye to Dex and Jet and held our hands together, making a chain.

"Teleporting spell!" we all said at the same time and then everything went black.
